Crawford county written by a former res¬
ident will appear in the next issue.
The people of Knoxville are. beginning
to see the.need of town governmeent, and
want to .have this place, incorporated. Tfe
should be done as soon as possible.
An enjoyable dance was given at the
residence ofJMr. J. R. Beeland on Wednes
nay night. The weather being rains not
very many were present but the festivities
lasted until late in the night.: .

Mplindy Pope, a colored woman of this
place, is sorely distressed. A few days ago
she had snugly stored away, in her house
several pieces of bright silvet? money which
she had accumulated by industry and
economy, and now her bank, like old
Mother Hubbard's cupboard, is “bare.”
She estimates her missing wealth at $8.50.
For certain reasons Malindy suspected
that Lizzie Moorehousa,. a- female of simi
lar complexion, had appropriated unto
herself the absent money, and, aecording
swore ou t a warrant against Miss

Oo Sunday Lizzie was lodged in jail.
Monday she , was tried before A. J. Dan
ielly, Nv.P., but the evidence not being
considered sufficiently strong, she was
released ’
