Again has death, ivi th tliat sickle ever keen (or the harvest, visited our community, and taken away from our midst, from tlie then happy and joyful, but now sad ahd sorrowing parents, Mr. ami Mrs. \V. P. Al¬ len, their ( bright and beloved little hoy, William Lee, aged six years and nineteen days. 1 f ,the sadness, sorrow, and gloom, ivith which the fell destroys! 1 marks his ,evcry path, can by any means be intensified, it is certainly true of this occurrence. Soon after dinner on last Tuesday ho, with a little sister younger than himself find other little playmates, went to the barnyard, ai his fathers home, and engaged in childish amusement?. .There was a rope swing which reached very nearly to the ground, arid it is supposalde that ail , cd the little ones present were amusing themselves with this, each in his or her turn. While swinging, it is thought that Lee eiihei fell from or became entangled in the rope in such a way as to produce almost instanta¬ neous death, for life was totallev ettinct when his jiarents reached him, they hav¬ ing been drawn to the place by the cric» of his playmates! In this brief ski L h she writer will say nothing morri of the cause of bis death, the particulars of which can never be ascertained with any degree of definiteness; but will tiy to givo a sytioy sis of the mairiy characteristics that marked this departed little one, and to say in conclusion something to soothe, If kicli can be, the grief of the bereaved parents and relatives. Lee was remarkablp intelligent for one so young, and his acts werb shaped in such a way as to lead every ope to Relieve that he would make a man of unusual diginity and great force of character. His words in conversation Jpive evidcnca of superior mental brillanricy, and very often did he dwell upon subjects, in hjs childlike way though it, was, that would interksfc persons of niatureage. No one save the family knew him better than the writer who cau say that his obedience to his parents was far beyond tha of the average child: and this one feature of itself would have made him an admirable boy. Lee was an affec tinate child: That kindness to his little brothers and sisters, and also to playmates^ which bis life, although ho died in tender years, evined at all times, demonstrated very cleanly gentlenccs in dispoistiou rarely, if ever surpassed in any one of the same sex. In short, he was a model child: a little fel¬ low by nature richly endowed, and one why so short life gave unmistakable eviden¬ ces of ;i3nt ho is gone. His iittlfe form sleeps in the omhracs of mother earth: angels have borne his spirit to the loving Father who gave it. The clouds are now dark to the loving ones left, behind, but the bright¬ ness of eternal day knows no dimness. The raptarcs of this day aie i. 0 w bciri^ shared in by little Lee. Words of sympa¬ thy arc but poor comfort to those lrinft of one so dear, but ihe communiy in which lived the little one during his short stay on earth and that had become so much at¬ tached to him, cm but feel a tender sympa¬ thy for them in their great loss.
