In 1823 a mill stone was made in this county which is now doing active service in Van's mill with another atone of home manufacture. At Thomas Hickson's mill a pair that were made about the same t'.riie. At the old Stembridge mill in town •were used up to a year or so ago another pair of mill rocks which were made in Crawford county. Tnese stones -have all been in use ever since they were made, and arc declared to be as good as the best in the county. This shows what can be done with the granite of this county. Probably as good building granite as can bo found in America may be found afmost anywhere in this neighborhood. We have many natural advantages here that may never be utilized, hut that the mineral wealth of Crawford county is abundant there can be no doubt.
