The Odd Fellows have changed their
meeting night to Friday night. They

applicants to be initiated at their next
meeting.
Work is progressing nicely on the
new Methodist Church.
The ball game last Saturday be
tween Big Sandy and Gordon resulted
in favor of Big Sandy. It was a pret
ty lively game in some respects and
caused a lot of cheering from the
crowd.
Mr. P. F. Duggan, our congenial edi
tor, was here Tuesday.
. Hodges & Evans have bought them a
■ new’ soda fount and will be ready to
' serve cold drinks in a few days.
Mrs. C. E. Frasier has quite a va
riety cf beautiful roses in bloom. She
is a great lover of owers, and has
more than forty varieties of roses.
The citizens of Gordon are greatly
bereaved for the death of Mrs. J. G.
Pearson, Wednesday morning, April 8,
at her heme in Gordon, Ga. Deeply
pious and a very active church work
er, she was also highly successful as
an educator, being greatly traveled as
well as thoroughly educated. Al
though she had previously taught at
Cartersville and other points in this
state, her last and most satisfactory
work was done at her home town.
Tw’o years since her failing health
forced her to give up teaching and
absent herself from her church work.
She united with the Baptist Church at
the early age of ———. For years
she was the foremost worker at her
church here. The writer greatly ad
mired her, for she was one of the rare
Christians who could love those of oth
er communions and pleasantly discuss
the points of difference in their relig
ious faith. She leaves a large circle
of relatives w’ho loved her first and
best and a heart-broken husband to
meet her in the great beyond.
