spending some time here. While here
a family reunion of the Lindsey was
held, and a pleasant time was spent.

Dublin after a month’s visit to their

Miss Mae Crutchfield, daughter of
1 Mr Kodon Crutchfield, of near Mcln
tyre died last Sunday night at 9 o’clock
after a brief illness. The funeral ser
vices were conducted by Kev L A
Brantley at the Irwinton church at 3:30
o'clock Monday afternoon, after which
the remains were interred in the Ma
sonic cemetery. The family and rela
tives have the smpathy of the Bulletin
iti their bereavement.

Exira Session Called Tuesday Aug. 25.
ATLANTA Ga., Aug. 19.—Governor Smith an
nounced this afternoon that he will issue the call the
special session of the Legislature tomorrow morning
calling the lawmakers together on Tuesday, August
25, at 9a. m. The session will be limited to the dis
cussion of one subject—the convict question.
Govesnor Uses Veto
Power Verx Freely.
The activity of Governor Hoke
Smith’s veto pen is a subject of con
siderable comment at the state capi
to). Goverdor Smith has vetoed
four bills sent him by the legislature
and his disapproval hangs over sev
al more, it is stated.
The school bock bill was the fust
general bill to die under the gover
nor’s pen stroke.
The appropriations to the agri' ul
tural experiment stations at Griffin
and Waycross went next.
The veto also fell with fatal effect
on the local bill abolishing the city
court of Barnesville.
It was thought all along that the
governor would slaughter the bill
providing for restoration of the an
nual payment plan of pensions, but
it went through approved, and here
after the vets and their widows will
receive their pensions annually 7 in
stead of by piecemeals.
: The volunteer mili.ia bill was ap
proved.
It is doubtful if any governor of
Georgia during the past twenty-five
years has established such a record
for killing bills as has Governor
Smith this year.
Ebenezer Teachers
Have Been Elected.
Last Monday the local trustees, in
connection with the Executive Com
mittee of the Ebenezer Association,
elected as principal Rev Z P Hamilton,
of Macon, and Miss Smith, of Conyers,
and Miss Everett, of Tennille, as assis
tants of the Ebenezer High School at
Dudley. The music teacher will be
elected later. These educators all come
highly recommended and the school
will be in good hands the coming year.
The new school building will be ready
and school will open the first Monday
in September. Tills school belongs to
the Ebenezer Baptist Association and
is destined to be a great school.
No Dentist Next week.
Dr. R. I. Butler requests us to an
nounce that he will take his vacation
next week. He will spend a week
Alabama. This vacation is justly
merited as the doctor is almost com-I
pletely overworked. We wish him |
much pleasure and recreation on his |
trip. He will be at his post here on
next Tuesday week.

We will very glad if that law passes
to make people send their children to
school. I know of some seven or eight
children in this community that are
large and old enough to attend school,
but their parents went make them go
because they cant get a teacher that
will let them de as they please.
