The good roads fever seems to be a
,contagious disease in Georgia. Near
ly every county in the state has it
bad—except Wilkinson: she seems to
be immune.
The road gang is now at work on
•the road leading from here to Tooms
boro, and which will be worked to
the corporate limits of Toomsboro.
'This will probably relieve a part of
the anxiety in the heart oi the News
—at least for a while.
The .Gordon Lodge Sons of Rest
wish to make this .their most emphat
ic denia} of the allegatien made some
time ago by the Gordon correspondent
to the Bulletin that that grand order
had been disbanded. The Great
Ruler of this organization says that
there is a large enrollment and all
in good standing.
The Bulletin will offer this season
to the farmer presenting us the larg
est watermelon one years subscription
so the Atlanta Semi-Weekly Journal
and the Bulletin and for th® next
largest melon we will send the Bul
letin one year free, for the third larg
est melon we will send the Bulletin
six months free. All melons will be
weighed as they are brought hi and
account will be kept of the. weights
of each and the lucky ones will be
determined September 15.
Wilkinson county should by all |
means get on the tpunk line between
Macon ^nd Savannah. An air line
between these two cities would center
drwinton. This course oi road would
ptean much to the county; although
,wa have no cars to semi outas scouts,
po money to'otfer as a bonus, but Wei
■have probably the best material to be ।
found in middle Georgia for building 1
good roads; and last, but not least, we
have an apprecietive people who
yvouid lend their most hearty aid and
co-operation in such a move.
Death of ’‘Little Jack.”
This afternoon a week ago, my lit
tle white shepherd dog passed away.
A largerattlesnake bit my little Jack
and be didn't live but a few minutes,
die was a smart little dog and he ate
just such as I did. Nothing I had
to eat was too good for Jack. If I
had chicken be got part of it. When
he wanted something to eat he would
jump up and turn around in front of
pie. He would sit up on his hind
legs and J would tell him good night
before I went to bed. We all miss
him. Jf any body has a little white
dog to give away please give it to me.
