Register Now for the primary,
or you will soon wake up to the sad
'fact that you are disfranchised. The
'registration books will be closed Anri
sth. Certainly every man ought to
appreciate his rights enough and
think enough of his county and friends
to pay his taxes and vote. We want
a government of our county by the
people, not a part of the people.
After March loth the quail and
and dove have a legal right to life,
liberty’ ami the pursuit of happiness
for a season. AU good law-abiding
citizens will respect that right: others
should be prosecuted.
Let us watch t he race between
Messrs. Rockerfellow and Carnegie
in their desire to giveaway their en*
tire fortunes for the greatest benefit
to mankind. Isn’t it : blessed thing
that sometimes even the greediest
come to realize that all they can car
ry with them in their cold, stiff hand
to the grave is what they have given
away.
J B Butler the accomodating Hippy
Hooligan of Wilkinson county politics
makes his annodneement for Tax Re
cievcr. Your unde Jim Crack is al-
Teadv running some, and if elected will
Hgaintake your tax return anywhere
lie finds you. He is making no promis
es about what he will do two years
from now’ but he is pretty sure that he
will be acanidate at that time.
That strike in Philadelphia only
gOSs to show, that capital can’t op
press to the extent of withholding a
living from people who are willing
and want to work, even though it be
in tha Quaker City, the City of Bro
therly Love. Here’s hoping the la
bors unions get what they ought to
have if they have to turn over Chesa
peake Bay.
Some of the older people may have
seen hundreds and hundreds of
Marches, but this is just as fine as
any of them could have seen. The
unruly month is to be congratulated
upon its excellent behavior to date.

Railroad A Certainty!
1 President Byington Makes Statement I
about Irwinton-Mclntyre Koad«
Because you are not hearing a lot
-
about that railroad from here to Mc-
Intyrs don’t get it into your head!
I that the survey completed it. Mr. j
Byington, who is President of the !
Company, stat’s that in a matter of.
' this kirn' there are quite a number of
! details to be attended to before actual
! construction can begin, but that
things are fast getting in shape to
make the dirt fly.
It can be demonstrated beyond any .
that this road can be put on a paying
basis from the start, and it is an a—
! snted fact that before 1910 is num
bered among the years that have pass
■ed the railroad will be a reality,
' which will mean more for the develop- i
’ meat < f the resourses of ilk ins >n
!Cmntv than anything since the Imild-i
ing of tne Central of Georgia. There
i are millions of feet of hardwood tim
' her on Sandv and below Irwinton and
1 large tracts of yellow pine that on ao
-1 count of the long haul to Mclntyre ii j
has been impracticable to cut. Kao- '
Ilin and Bauxite have been found in
, great quantities, which can bn protit
■ ably mined by being placed nearer a
railroad.
The incoming freight is also quite
|an item. Six miles can be saved to
the farmers who haul wagon load as
: ter wagon load of guano and otner 1
things which have to be shipped to i
i them to Mclntyre and have to make |
i the same long haul in the fall of thej
rear to got their cotton, c 'thm seed
and other products to a market.
The territory to be served by this
road, lying within a radius of S to 12
miles bi low Irwinton, comprises some
of our very best land and most valu -
i ble resources.
i And not a small item to the rail
road will bo the income for hauling
j the mail, the passenger traffic and
express receipts,
i Os course, it is not proposed to
J put this road on a very low grade,
land the rolling stock will not be of
I the highest order. It can be oper
; ated at very little expense.
! Let everybody lend a helping hanil.
I have now in stock a large line of
, men’s ami bovs’ suits and pants, low
cuts ami shoes Inspect my line before
I you buy elsewhere. Patronize home
i industry.— E. Johnson.

(Captain Park
I
! Greatly encouraged
We are glad to learn that Jasper
county, as well as other counties, in
! the district, will give Captain Park a
! splendid support for the judgeship of
i the Ocmulgee circuit. The captain
is receiving much encouragement in
; his race.
While at Crawfordville Monday we
. talked to several men from Hancock,
who stated that Captiin Park would
carry Hancock by a splendid majori
ty-
News from Jones is to the effect
‘bat Captain Park, stands a fine
chance of carrying Jie county.
Ami as to Putnam, there is no doubt
hut that the candidate from Greene
. will lead by a large majority.
It is useless to say, in this connec.
tion, that Captain park will receive
I the almost solid support of his own
county. He has practiced law at
Greensboro for the past 30 rears and
has always been faithful to every trust
, impose <1 in him.
I He lias at all ti nes manifested
much interest in matters pertaining
t । the farmers’ welfare and betti I
ment. He is a farmer of much ex
perience and is always auxh us to as,
sist the tiller of the soil to hotter hi#
condition.-—Jonrnal-Heralb.
We ar? sure that Captain Park
will g't a large vote in Wilkinson
1 county and we are confident that ho
1 will do all in his power for the good
j of the people, if elected.
Mrs. (J. E. Price, of
Mclntyre, will have
her regular spring
opening of millinery
March 25 and 26.
She has the moststy
lis'i and up-to-date
line ever brought to
this county. The
public is invited to
attend.
