ED OR RAILROAD
The First Dirt Was
Moved Monday
Morning
The grading of the railroad from
Mclntyre to Irwinton began last
Monday morning at Mclntyre, and
the roadbed is being laid up all along
the way and wherever it is neees.
sary it is being graded down and
in some places it is necessary ‘o fill
in for a hundred feet or more, There
is not but one or two place on the
route where much grading will have
to be done to get it on a two percent
grade. Mr. B, I. Stevens has the
contract to grade it and put it in
shape to lay the track. Mr. Stevens
has had several years experience in
railroad grading and such like. He
says thay ho will have everything
in shape to begin laying the track in
sis weeks and will not take longer
than that time to lay the track. By
the first of February next we are in
hopes that we will hear the whistle
of a locomotive in this town, which
has for such a long time been trying
to get a railroad.
As soon as this riilroad is com
pleted you will see old Irwinton come
to the front and in the course of a
few yeais we will have one of the
best little town in middle Georgia.
We are sure that we will have a bank
in just a short whild after the rail
road is finished for talk has ujreajy
begun on get a bank oruani^od here.
The perple between here and Dubr
lin and at Dublin are very interested
in the idea of extending it to Dublin
and in just a short while after jt is
completed to here, no doubt but that
plans will bp made to extend it on to
Dilbljn.

Get Your License
Hon Carry Pistol
Under the law passed at the last
session of the general assembly, if
you carry a pistol you must secure a!
licens and give a bond of §IOO to
the state.
The fee is fiftv cents, which must
jbe [laid to the ordinary. The license |
iis toy three years. The lion I is for
' the legitimate use of the pistol.
The license does not authorize one I
to carry tne pistol Goneedled. If you |
carry the weapon concealed you are ;
still guilty of a misdemeanor.
Just what the purpose of the law
is has not been made public. If one
is convicted of the offense of carrying
a pistol 'concealed and it is found that
that person has not secured a license
to carry a pistol, he pan be fined on
two charges, one for carrying a pisto]
and one for not taking out a license
and giving bond.
It is also believed that if one gives
this bond and pays the license, fee and
is convicted of tha improper use of
the pistol, the bond pan be collect'd.
Ordinary Butler has received a copy
of the law from Secretary of State
Cook and any person interested can
call and see it.
If you own a pistol you had better
take out the license. If you do not
and are indicted for carrying a pistol
you will also be indicted for failing
to take out the license.
