It is encouraging to note th t "nth
the opening of the Irwinton Hank
other business is coining. Mr. E. 0
Momand lias begun a general mer
chandise business in the old Rutland
stoje. Mi. Byington is about to open
up a store, and it is reported that an
up-to-date diug store is t > come
along Avitb the other good things, to
lie managed by Mr. Warren Lindsey.
Those who have been running off to
do their trading can now do it at
honie. We want to see the people
coming back to the old town like
they used to. They will do it too now
that the business f cilities are being
furnished, Watch the county seat
go forward.
How about a few improvements on
,‘he sidewalks on Main .Street? A
small sum of money levied by the
Mayor and Council and expended in
this wav will add lots to the looks of
the town and the comfort of the peo
ple. Or if every man would do some
work in front of his own premises,
both be and the public would be be
nefitted.
It looks like a calamity is about to
befall the country m losing its [.each
crop. Already the trees are in
bloom, and a freeze would mean a
't-ememlous loss. At this time of the j
— year it can hardly lie hoped that we
have had the last freezing weaiherfor
the year.
Baseball is getting into the lime j
light again, and the dope is being
handed out by the pages. This year
Albany will have a team in the South
Atlantic League.
Macon is going right ahead with
its preparations to take care of the
Capitol. The announcement has
been made that a big hotel is about
to be c instructed on Cherry Street,
and they are almost blocking the
streets making other improvements.
It is wonderful how fast the Ceptral
City is pushing forward. If tne
State really wants to move the Capi
td back into Georgia, Macon will do
its part. The movement continues i
to spread, and enthusiasm increases |

7 nat tip you tnink of Macon
as the location for the capital
of Georgia?
, That is the question that the
Central Capital Association of
. Macon, Ga., is anxious to have
I answered.
Every subscriber of this paper
। is invited to send in a reply to
, this question to the Central Cap
i ital Association. To every one
who gives their opinion in the I
matter the association will send ]
one of the handsome four-color j
wall maps of Georgia, one of the j
i new forty-page booklets on the i
। movement, and other valuable ■
reading matter and souvenirs. 1
This offer holds good for every :
man who has an office or is in
business, and will agree to dis
i play the may in a prominent
place.
The new Georgia wall maps
are 20x30 inches, printed in four
colors, which show clearly the
' outlines of each county. On the
i back of the map is a table show
। ing the population of the princi
> pal cities of the United States
, and that of every town and city
in Georgia according to the 1910 ।
’ census. There is also a large |
’ calendar for 1911 and other val-|
t liable information on the maps.
The Central Capital Associa- f
. tion proposes to keep this mat- j
. ter before the people of the
state from now until the legisla
ture meets, and it will spring
' some surprises which are certain ।
to interest and entertain every
! Georgian. The fight has just
begun and Macon’s people do not
( propose to stop until the capital
is located in the Central City,
where it will be convenient for
the greater number of citizens.
' “Centralize your State Busi
f ness” and “Bring the Cdpital
. Back Into Georgia” are two
3 earnest slogans which have
caught the people of the great
Empire State.
