The Bank is to Begin
Business Next Week.
Everything is ready and the
bank will start to doing business
on Tuesday or Wednesday of
next week. On account of the
cashier that the Witham Finan
cial Company has secured to
run this bank being sick, opera
tions could not begin this week,
. as was counted on. The name of
the cashier has not been learned
here yet.

; of the stockholders’ meetings,
■ has called a meeting to be held i
some time in the next few days
and officers will be elected and
all final arrangements will be
made at that meeting.
Educational Rally
Saturday Week.
We are pleased to learn the
teachers of the county will hold
an oratorical contest at their
next monthly meeting, to be
held here on the fourth Satur
day, next. Medals will be award
ed for best essay by pupils and
' one for teachers also. Each
■ speaker will be allowed selec
tion of subject. Teachers lim
ited to 15 minutes and pupils
to 10 minutes each. This is a
move in the right direction and
we are glad to see our school au
thorities are moving to stimu
late an interest in education.
The educational train will reach
Gordon Saturday, March 4th, at i
8 a. m. and Toomsboro at 10 a.
' m. All schools in the county !
have been instructed by the com
missioner to meet this train and
we are sure our farmers will
take advantage to see this educa-
■ tional train, which is of great in-.
terest to all of them.

Big Revival
JGoing on Here
Rev. C. W. Jordan, assisted by
Rev. 0. B. Close, of Macon, has
been conducting a revival at the
Union church here this week.
The revival started last Sunday
night and services have been
held at 11 o’clock in the morn
ing and 7 at night all the week,
i and the series of meetings will
I be continued through next Sun-
I day night. Every one is espe
i cially invited to attend each and
every service.
Mr. Close carried on a series
of meetings here last summer,
and a lot of good resulted from
them, and we are sure that
these services will do the town
much good in a great many
ways. Each sermon he has
preached in this series of meet
ings has been very uplifting and
if you fail to go to any of the
i meetings, you will miss a fine
sermon.

Petition of the undersigned whose
names and residences are hereinafter
fully set forth, respectfully shows.
Ist. That they desire th be incorpated
under the laws of Georgia as provided
in the acts 0f1592 and the acts of 1895
amendatory thereof, pages 60 and 61
1 2nd. Thev desire for themselves, their
successors anil associates to lie incorpo
rated under the name and style of the
Danville and Cary South and North
Railway Company.
3rd. The railway contemplated in
this petition for charter is to be, about
50 tpiles in length, beginning at Cary,
