State Fair Notes
The Georgia State Fair has
- closed a contract with the Moul
trie Concert band to furnish
music during the coming State
Fair. Macon is one of the cities
in Georgia that believes in pat
ronizing Georgia concerns and
industries as far as possible, and
for this reason, and also because
of the fine reputation obtained
by the Moultrie band, it was se
lected above fifteen or twenty
other musical organizations,
some of which were out of the
State. The directors believe
they have obtained the best band
in the South, and think them
selves very fortunate in secur
ing it.
During the Georgia State Fair
in Macon this fall the Georgia
Swine Brooders Association
will hold its annual meeting and
at the same time will give a fine
show at the fair grounds. More
than 500 fine swine will be
shown by the different live stock
raisers over the State who be
long to this organization, and it
promises to be one of the real
attractions of the fair.
Secretary Harry Robert of the
Georgia State Fair has returned
from an eastern trip during
which he visited many of the big
amusement plants of the east,
and secured a number of very
Reasons Why
YOU SHOULD HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH
The Irwinton Bank
Because
IT HELPS MY CREDIT TO PAY MY BILLS WITH CHECKS ON THE BANK AND CREATES A FAVORA-
BLE IMPRESSION AMONG BUSINESS MEN, AS THEY NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH LARGER I COULD
THE CHECK.
Because
IT SETS MY FAMILY A GOOD EXAMPLE AND SHOWS THEM THAT I HAVE THEIR WELFARE AT
HEART, BY TAKING CARE OF MY MEANS.
Because
I DO NOT ENDANGER THE LIVES OF MY FAMILY OR MY OWN BY HAVING THE REPUTATION OF A
MAN WHO KEEPS HIS MONEY IN HIS POCKET OR HIDES IT ABOUT HIS HOME. I BELIEVE FUNDS
ARE SAFER IN THE BANK THAN IN MY POCKET OR AT HOME.
Because
IT WILL HOLD ME UP WHEN I AM SICK OR OUT OF WORK.
Because
A bank account creates a desire and pride to make it as large as possible, and it is wise for all of us to pro
vide for the “RAINY' DAY” which conies sooner or later.
Because
If I pay my debts by drawing check on the bank, the check must be endorsed before the bank will pay it, and
then it becomes a legal receipt for my money paid. No one can claim I did not pay them, as I can show their
endorsement on the check which pa id the debt.
Because
It I keep a good account with the bank and meet with some disaster and do not have sufficient money for
my purpose, the bank feels under obligations to loan me money, if I can secure them. The bank will nearly al
ways lend its depositors money when refusing to make loans to other people.
Because
It gives me a standing at home which can come in no other way. I am not regarded as one of ‘‘the ne’er
do wells” of the community, not able to have a bank account, or as one of the suspiciously ignorant, who are
opposed to all advanced civilization.
Because
If I have an account, the officers and directors of the bank appreciate the confidence I place in them, and
they are always willing to give me advice on business matters, in which they are often experts. They are
sometimes well versed in commercial law; and their advice is free to their customers. It pays me to be
on good terms with a polite, clever, capable banker.
Because
I do not give the wrong change and always have tLe right change. I am not tempted to buy things be
cause I have the money in my pocket, it systematizes my affairs and enables me to run my business in
stead of it running me. I see our best and most successful business men with bank: acceunts. I believe my
home bank is solvent, conservative and courteous and to be composed of honorable and worthy men.

fine attractions for the fair. He
believes that the fair will have
the best midway this year in its
history, and is also arranging
for a large number of high-class
free acts.
The Chattanooga Manufac
turers* Association has arrang
ed to send its big forty-carload
exhibit to the State Fair, and
will send at least 100 leading
manufacturers on a three-days’
visit to Macon at the same time.
This exhibit represents invest
ments of more than $20,000,000,
and will be one of the big feat
ures. The importance of the
Georgia State Fair is eloquent
ly attested, too, when a big ex
hibit like this is shipped from a
sister State. An entire building
has been given over to it.
The Georgia State Fair is for
tunate in securing the permis
sion of the United States gov
ernment to bring cattle across
the quarantine line and then re
ship them back to other states
in the event that they are not
sold. This will give the fair an
opportunity to bring many fine
exhibits of live stock from the
middle western States this year,
something that has been impos
sible in the past.

200,000 PECANS PLANTED.
Estimated That Increase Around Way
cross Will Reach 50 Per Cent.
Pecan groves in the Waycross sec
tion will be largely increased as a
result of this year’s activity among
those now having groves. The plant
ing for seedlings alone has reached
180,000, 80,000 being planted by one
concern near Waycross, the largest
single planting known in the southern
states.
An estimate of a peach grower gives
■the acreage devoted to pecans at 50
per cent increase this year, with pros
pects for the same or a slightly
greater gain another year.
