BRAG stands for Bicycle
Ride Across Georgia, Davis
explained.
BRAG began in 1979
with 200 bikers, grew to
2,800 riders during the
Summer Olympics of 1996
and usually consists of
2,000 riders.
Formerly a motorcycle
racer, Davis was hurt in an
accident in 1986. During
rehabilitation bicycle rid
ing, he fell in love with it
and joined up.
He's already looking for
ward to the 1999 ride June
t 9-26. Bicyclists will tra
verse the state from
LaGrange to Savannah in
seven days traveling 60
miles a day for 400 miles.
BRAG riders will
approach Perry from
Thomaston on June 22.
Passing through Fort Valley
using lightly traveled back
roads to Valley Drive, the
bicyclists will turn right on
Sam Nunn Boulevard.
Riders will continue
along Sam Nunn to the
intersection with Perimeter
Road. There, riders will
turn left and follow that
road to Macon Road and on
to Perry High School, Davis
told the Kiwanians.
During an overnight
camp Perryans will wel
