Janice Barnhart
Janice R. Barnhart. 57. of
Perry, died May 13, 1999.
Services were held at 11
a.m. May 15 at the Parkway
Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Barnhart was retired
from Robins Air Force Base
where she worked for more
than 20 years. She was a
member of the Warner
Robins Newcomers Club, the
Perry Business Women's
Club and Bonaire First
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her
husband. Marvin Barnhart;
a son. Paul Hardin of
Arlington. Va.; her mother,
Ruth Griffin of Kathleen;
and her brothers, John
Rackley of Kathleen and
Wayne Rackley of Warner
Robins.
Memorials may be made
to Bonaire First Baptist
Church Building Fund, the
American Heart Association
or the American Cancer
Society.
Harry Almond Berry
Harry' Almond Berry. 78,
of 1107 Second St.. Perry,
died May 16. 1999 at the
Perry Hospital.
Graveside sendees are
planned for 2 p.m., May 19.
at the Evergreen Cemetery.
The Rev. Dr. Gene Bowman
will officiate.
Mr. Berry' was born in
Houston County and had
lived here for the last 10
year s. He was a former resi
dent of Miami and also lived
on the inter coastal water
way. He was a World War II
Navy veteran.
He was an entrepreneur
and was instnr mental in the
Hula Hoop craze. He was
also former business man
ager for Johnny Weismuller
and Rocky Marciano. A for
mer member of the board of
directors for Circus Circus
Hotel in Las Vegas, he was a
Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his
brothers. John Berry and
Charles Robert Beny, both
of Miami, and James Alfred
Berry of Chula Vista, Calif.,

Perry Hospital.

National Cemetery.
Mr. Deibert. a native of
Sacramento. Pa., had lived
in Perry for 34 years. He was
a retired Civil Service
employee, and a United
States Army Veteran of
World War 11.
He was a member of
Masonic Lodge. Hershey,
Pa., Scottish Rite.
Harrisburg. Pa.. A 1 Sihah
Shrine Temple. Macon.
Royal Order of Jesters, and
was past president of the
Perry Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife.
Marjorie Stapleton Deibert
and his son. Gary Deibert.
both of Perry, five grandchil
dren. two sisters, Alice
Yingst of Harrisburg, Pa.,
and Grace Sanderson of New
Jersey.

Rosie Gill Ferguson, 89, of
1026 Keith Drive, Perry, died
May 14, 1999, at the
Summerhill Nursing Home
in Perry'.
Graveside services were
held May 18 in the Cedar
Hill Cemetery in Dawson.
Born in Pike County. Mrs.
Ferguson had lived here for
10 years. She was a former
resident of Autumn Terrace
and had lived earlier in
Dawson. She was a retired
school teacher with the
Teqrell County Board of

Education. She was a mem
ber of the Dawson United
Methodist Church.
The widow of W.L.
Ferguson, she is survived by
a sister, Lona G. Hunt of
Macon, and two nieces.

Born in Henry County.
Va., he was an Air Force vet
eran and served in the
Vietnam War. He was med
ically retired from Watkins
Trucking Co. and was a
member of the New Hope
Bible Church in Collinsville,
Va.
Survivors include his wife,
Kimberly Patterson Flippen
of Axton, three sons. Shad
Flippen of Annandale, N.J.,
and Lucas and Joel Flippen,
both of Axton; his father,
Frank Flippen Sr. of Axton; a
sister, Debbie Hollands
worth of Bassett, Va.; four
brothers, Frank Flippen Jr.
of Collinsville and Eddie

his father and mother-in

was a retired builder and
developer and president of
Jemigan Construction Co.
for 40 years. He was an
active member of Christ’s
Sanctified Holy Church.
Survivors include his wife

of Perry High School and
Gupton Jones Mortuary
College and attended Miami
Dade Junior College. He
was a Baptist.
He is survived by his
mother, Ann Stewart Reese
of Fort Valley, his daughter,
Elizabeth Ann Milam of
Salem. Ala.; his son, Lester
Malcolm Reese of Ringgold,
his brother, Jimmy
Malcolm Reese of Fort
Valley, and two grandchil
dren.

Celebration

The Houston County
Board of Education is
planning an end-of-year
system-wide event on May
25. This first such event,
entitled System
Celebration, will be held at
the Georgia National
Fairgrounds and
Agricenter in Perry and will
begin 7 p.m.
According to the Board
of Education, more than
1,300 people are expected
to gather at the McGill Hall
for dinner and entertain
ment.
The Perry High School
Metal Band and the
Bonaire Middle School
Jaguar Jazz Band will per
form. In addition, to the
dinner and entertainment,
years of service pins will be
distributed.
Beth Burris, Community
Schools Specialist, said,
“This is a casual evening
for Dr. Holloway and the
Central Office to say
thanks for a job well done
an opportunity to show
how much we appreciate
everyone."
Burris said the event is
“entirely funded by dona
tions." She mentioned
donations were obtained
from Cagle's Inc., Georgia
National Fairgrounds and
Agricenter, Alltel, Dr. and
Mrs. Ben Lowery, and
Stokes Shaheen, though
“the donation list is still
growing."
