Tom Chapman. 76. of
1911 Main St.. Perry, died
May 29. 1999, at his home.
Funeral services were
held May 31 at the First
Baptist Church of Pern',
with the Rev. Dr. Randv
Kennedy and Elder Gordon
Buchanan officiating. Bur
ial was in Pern Memorial
Gardens.
A life-long resident of
Perry. Mr. Chapman was
owner of Chapman Con
struction. a realtor and an
investor. He was a member
of First Baptist Church.
Sun'ivors include his
wife. Mae Dupuy Chapman,
his brothers. Harris Chap
man. Bill Chapman and
Howell Chapman, his sister
Mary Becham, all of Perry,
and a number of nieces and
nephews.

where she was employed by
Dayton Malebale Iron Co.
for 30 years. She was a
member of Crossroads
United Methodist Church
and the AARP, and was a
former Pink l^ady.

The reading club and
activities began June 1 and
continue through Aug 7
There will be arts and
crafts, entertainers, movies,
and story-telling.
Story times are Tuesdays
at 10 a.m. for pre-K to sec
ond graders. Toddler time
begins at 11 a.m. Tuesdays
for children 18 months to 3

Mr. had lived in
Perry’ since 1958. He was
retired from the City of
Perry Water Works Depart
ment. He was a World War
II army veteran, a member
of the AARP, the American
Legion and Second Memori-

daughter of John and Alice
McWhirt and a former resi
dent of Autumn Terrace
and Kensington. Md. She
was a homemaker, a Protes
tant. and the widow of
Percy G. Mangum.
Survivors include her
daughter. Joan Evans of
Warner Robins; a son. Paul
G. Mangum of Derry’. N.H.;
two sisters. Margaret Soret
of Fredericksburg. Va.. and
Catherine Misko of Ord.
Neb.; 10 grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McDaniel was born
in Macon County and had
lived in Perry’ most of her
iife. She was the former
owner of the L&J Superette
Market and was a member
of First Baptist Church.
She was the widow of

age of 72.

ing the service.
A native of Fort Valley
and former resident Rep.
Ray was a graduate of
Roberta High School and
the University of Georgia.
Before starting his political
career, he was a farmer and
the owner of a pest control
business.

pal Association.
He served for 10 years as
Senator Sam Nunn’s

and was elected to Con
gress in 1982. He repre
sented Georgia as a senior
member of the Armed Ser
vices Committee.
Following his years in
Congress, he operated a
consulting business in
Alexandria, Va.
Survivors include his
wife, Barbara Giles Ray; his
children. Barbara Ray of
Cambridge, Mass., Charles
Ray of Alexandria, Va., and
Alan Ray of Kathleen;
brothers and sister, James
Ray of Chattanooga, Tenn.
