• One area that must be
mentioned as we conclude
our three-part series on
community newspaper
publishing is advertising.
Advertising by far is the
number one revenue source
of community newspapers.
Our pages provide space
for the local merchants in
the community to advertise
their products or services.
The classifieds help sell
household items no longer
needed, automobiles and so
forth.
Help can be found
through classified advertis
ing and so on. There is no
advertising media in your
community which offers the
buying power that your
local, paid circulation,
newspaper does. Most of
our community newspapers
are read by upwards of 60
percent of the people in
your shopping area.
There is no orther media
in your community, be it
radio, cable television or
free shoppers which can
match the readership per
centages of your communi
ty newspaper.
Give our management or
advertising consultants a
call. We need your business
and you need our product
for customer development.

“They Just don’t know

"They need to be kept in the

Brett, who specializes in
horses and cattle, says
horses need well ventilated

should also have an ample

is regularly replenished,
with adequate trough room

He recommends adding

He also says horses

slow or sluggish movement.
Heat stroke symptoms
which can be observed in
dogs are extreme panting,
excessive salivation and
dark gum color, according
to Burnham. He said pre
vention is very important
because even when dogs
initially survive a heat
stroke, they are likely to die
a day or two later. This is
due to damage done to
internal organs.
Regarding cats that are
kept outdoors. Burnham
says the same common
sense rules apply regarding
sufficient water and shade,
but that cats are to seek
out shady hideaways for
long stretches of time and
avoid exertion on hot days.
Brett suggests goat own
ers make sure that troughs
are low enough for the
smallest goats to reach the
water, and that rabbit
breeders make sure that
hutches are in shady loca
