lIS. Ho, isc of Represen
tative Saxby Chambliss. D
Moultrie, visited Feagin
Mill Middle School near
Warner Robins Aug. 24.
The visit provided an
opportunity for Chambliss
to meet teachers, students,
and school board members
and to discuss educational
issues while consuming the
lunch fare at the middle
school.
“I know the people of
Houston County know
more about how to educate
their children than we do
in Washington. D.C.," said
Chambliss. “One of the
most important issues in
Congress today is educa
tion."
Chambliss toured the
middle school after lunch
and complimented the
school board for its deter
mination to work for better
education in local schools.
“I’m a fan of public
schools," said Chambliss.
School Board Chairman
Skip Talbert said. “With
defense dollars down, we
are concerned. Our respon
sibility to the base and its
families arc still inereas
ing."
Chambliss agreed. “The
cost of educating a child is
expensive. For ever} 7 dollar
spent, five cents comes
from Washington and 95
cents from the state and
county.”
He said the government
is trying to get more avion
ics work at Robins.
"The process keeps going
up and down. We will be
creating more jobs at
Robins. Some will be trans
ferred and some will be
from here. That will mean
new taxpayers and many
will have children," Chum
bliss said.
The stop was part ot
Chambliss's town meeting
tour with stops throughout
the Eighth Congressional
District.
Chambliss, a resident of
Moultrie, was first elected
to office in November
1994.
