of the church’s service on
Grovania Road in
Hayneville
the church was begun in
1937 and services had been
held in two previous loca
tions before the Grovania
Road site.
The move from Clinch
field 25 years ago was not
an easy choice to make,
according to church offi
cials. After putting so much
effort into establishing a
new church along U.S. 341
Just south of what was then
the Medusa cement plant,
many members were reluc
tant to move, but blasting

It’s formal name is allergic
rhinitis, but the condition com
monly know as "hay fever" actually
has little to do with hay. A 19th
century physician who began to
sneeze whenever he was near hay

building it at cost for mate
rials and labor.
He, along with Walter W.
Shurling and W.J. “Buster"
llamslcv. served as the
building committee, signing
for the $30,000 loan
required to complete the
job.
Gene A. McKinney, who
in 1971 had agreed to pas
tor this small country
church for,a year or two,
has now been shepherding
this flock for 28 years.
Reflecting back on his
career here, including the
decision to move the
church to its present loca
tion. McKinney said, “When
God's will is clear, His peo
ple can do amazing things.
I invite all who are not now
attending a Bible-teaching
church to come and enjoy
the fellowship and Holy
Spirit's presence at the

back in the pulpit as inter
im beginning Sept. 1.
That mid-week service
will be spent studying the
