Members of 1959 region
champ football team at
PHS to be honored Oct. 1

On Oct. 1, members of
the 1959 Perry High foot
ball team will be honored
with a 6:30 p.m. reception
before the Perry-Jackson
game, and will also be rec
ognized at halftime. Efforts
are being made to reach as
many of the team members
as possible.
The 1959 team remains
the only Perry High team to
win a region football cham
pionship. This year is the
40th anniversary of that
victory.
They won the Region 2B
title by defeating
Emmanuel County Insti
tute. 28-27. Later the Pan
thers lost to Brooks County
