Yearwood brings Monticello drawl back home for i : air concert

The roof will be raised off of
the Reaves Arena Oct 9 when
Trisha Yearwood takes the stage.
The s'B" country singing phenom
will be performing her list of hits
lor the anticipated crowd.
Since 1991 the Monticello, 6A
native with a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree, has made
music history. Her first MCA

Yearwood surpassed sales of a
million copiesiHie first time a
country female artist's debut
album every to accomplish that
goal. The album eventually went
double platinum.
Yearwood said singing was
always her dream. T don't ever
remember not wanting to do this.
I never feh like I just woke up and
thought to myself, I'd like to be a
singer. It chose me.'
Her style is unique. Yearwood
admits, 'My style is a combination
of all the things I've grown up lis
tening to -from Ronstadt to George
Jones and Prince, the Allman
Brothers, Ray Charles, Bonnie
Raitt, The EagiesAU very folk
related, but also with an edge
which 1 love.' It obviously works.
Yearwood has growing num
bers of fans. Her debut album
went to number 2 and was certi

Arista recording artist Monica,
whose best-selling album The Bov
Is Mine recently passed the RIAA
double-platinum mark, will be
performing live at the Georgia
National Fair in the Reaves Arena
Oct. 15. The Perry performance
marks the end of her summer
tour itinerary.
Monica's The Bov Is Mine
album has spent more than 40
weeks on the Billboard 200
album chart. The song 'Street
Symphony,' the fourth new single
from the album, was produced by
Dallas Austin and utilizes the
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
But a terrific voice is not
Monica's only charm. Monica, 18,
was chosen as one of The 50
Most Beautiful People in the
World for 1999' by People mao
azine and one of the '2l Hottest
Starts Under 21' by Teen People.
