Three of the nominees
for this year were Perryans
Joe Gayle and Rachel
Wooden, and former Perry
resident Madge Ricks of
Milledgeville.
Two boards of judges
named all three to receive
Honorable Mention certifi
cates which were signed by
Community Relations
Director Amy Fowles and
WMAZ 13 President Don
McGourik.
Joe Gayle was nominat
ed by Pauline Lewis for his
dedication to helping a
neighbor. For 22 months,
Gayle maintained Lewis’
home and yard while she
was rehabilitating from
three strokes and numer
ous complications.

numerous other helpful
things, including typing,
purchasing groceries, and
providing wholesome meals
until Lewis was approved
by Meals on Wheels.
Madge Ricks was nomi
nated by Lewis for her love,
support, and caring during
those same 22 months.
Ricks cared for Lewis,
her sister, during her recu
peration, She drove her to
her medical appointments
in Macon and Milledgeville;
drove to Perry to check on a
break-in at the Lewis home
and when a storm caused
damage to trees, the house,
and carport; and Ricks
took Lewis to special
church events and perfor

Anne Harkins of Marietta,
celebrated his first birth
day on Oct. 15, with family
and friends. Big sister,
