With his voice wavering
and tears falling down his
cheeks, Henry Fred Wilson
of Kathleen told the stu

County Board of Education
auditorium of his exploits
in World War 11.
Wilson spoke about free
dom. respect for the Amer

represents, as well as what
price was paid to obtain it.
“You sit here today- free
to go and do as you please.
You can go to the church of
your choice. Go to school
and learm different things.
Many men died so you can
do these things,” said Wil
son.
Wilson told stories of
being shot down behind
enemy lines and having to
rely on the kindness of a
French family to hide him
from the enemy. He talked
of his mother receiving two
Western Unions from the
government. One telegram
stated he was wounded in
battle and the other said
he was shot down behind
enemy lines and his cur
