President’s Perspective
Happy Thanksgiving 1999! 1
hope you and your family are
enjoying the last Thanksgiving
weekend of this century.
Traditionally, this is the time of
year we reflect on our blessings
during recent years. As I look
back at the 19905, Middle
Georgia Tech has much to be
thankful for.
I am thankful for the faculty
and staff who, through their dedi
cation and hard work during this
decade, have made our school one
of the best technical institutes in
the state. We at Middle Georgia
Tech especially want to thank
you. the taxpayers, for our mod

behalf of our students, we thank

funds to enable every Georgian to
further his or her education on a
post-secondary level. Middle
Georgia Tech also is thankful for
the opportunity to be a part of
this educational process and,
through this means, contribute to
improving the quality of life for
the people of Middle Georgia
and their community.
While we have much to be
thankful for in the 19905, we must
also address the opportunities and
challenges in the years to come if
we are to build upon the momen
tum established during this
decade. Looking to the year 2000
and beyond, technical education

advances continue to change the
economic and social landscape of
our community. More and more
jobs are requiring specific, high
skilled training and all indications
are that this trend will continue
well into the next century. No
business, whether big or small,
whether it is a manufacturer,
retailer, construction contractor,
financial institution or service sup

with the rapid and ever increasing
innovations in technology.
Although 1 don’t know what

According to the American Dental
Hygienists’ Association, the average
salary for dental hygienists in 1996
was $37,619 per year. Many dental
hygienists receive benefit packages
from their employers, which may
include health insurance coverage,
dues for membership in professional
organizations and paid vacations.
