James and Lana Insko
celebrate 60th anniversary
James M. and Lana H. Insko
of Warner Robins celebrated
their 60th wedding anniversary
on July 8. They were married
on July 8, 1943, in San Diego,
Calif. She is the former Lana H.
Griffin.
He is retired from the U.S. Air
Force. He was a chief master
sergeant and served for 31
years. He is also retired from

Britt family reunion held in Perry

For the ninth year the fami
lies of Josiah and Nancy Briff
held their annual family
reunion at the VFW in Perry.
The reunion took place on June
27 and 28 with four of the Britt
sisters attending: Martha
Martin, McAlester, Okla.,
Emma Lee Connor,
Dawsonville, Susie Arnold of
Perry, and Luella King of
Jacksonville, Fla. Families of
three sisters, Daisy King, Josie
Luther and Gladys Mathews
that are now deceased came to
make sure this reunion stays
alive.
“Cousins, aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, children and
grandchildren came from
Colorado, Alabama, Ohio,
Florida, and Georgia to visit
each other,” Shelby Arnold
reported, “The relatives from
Texas and California weren’t
able to make this years reunion.

vate dinner.

the game of marbles. The win
ners were: yo-yo competition,
Jirnmy Mennoia of Marietta, of
the older generation the hula
hoop winner, Emma Lee
Connor, Douglasville, GA., of
the younger generation, Grace
Bajalla, Green Cove Springs,
Fla., smack-back paddle, Beth
Pennington. The judges of these
contest were: Tiffany Gridgnon,
Colorado; Brandon and Jeremy
Donaldson, Callaway, Fla., Scoff
Taylor, Perry and other young
adults that were there. A fim
time was had by all with plans
for more competition next year.
The games of horseshoes and
volley ball also held some stiff
but friendly competition.”
The ’family met at Holiday
Inn for supper on Friday night
as they arrived in Perry. On
Saturday, after the games, a
southern fried chicken and veg
etable supper was catered by

Hickmans celebrate
silver anniversary
Mark and Kathy Hickman of
Fort Valley celebrated their
25th wedding anniversary on
June 24th at a surprise party
given by their family at the New
Perry Hotel.
They were married in
Charleston, S.C., on June 24,
1978.

attendance at the Britt family reunion in Perry. They are, from

attendance.

Ryan Edward Ashford, son
of Jason and Tina Ashford,
turned 1-year-old on June 26,
2003. A party to honor this
special occasion was held on
June 28 at the Ashford family
home. Approximately 20
guests attended, with birthday
cake and ice cream, punch,
and assorted hors d’oeuvres
being served. The younger
guests enjoyed patriotic-.
themed party favors, and par
ticipated in sidewalk chalk art
and pony rides.
Ryan is the grandson of Bob
and Wanda Samson of Rolla,
Miss., and Greg and Lois
, Ashford of St. Petersburg, Fla.
reunion in 2004.
This event was hosted by

1 can cream of shrimp soup
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic juice
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire
sauce
30 crackers, crushed
1/2 tablespoon minced onion
Butter casserole dish and
place thawed fish in bottom,
sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Add lemon juice to soup and
pour over this. Bake at 375
degrees for 20 minutes. Stir
onion, garlic juice and
Worcestershire sauce into melt
ed butter. Blend with crackers
and sprinkle crumbs over fish.
Bake another 10 minutes.
