Dry Goods, Boots and Shoes, Ac . are being

We notice a shipment of Grain passing
through, which shows tho modus operandi of
some of our Western Housee. After hating
sold to Atlanta handsome amounts of grain,
they run out into tho country, and the follow,
ing bill, to Thomaston, Georgia, shows their
large operations : 13 saoks Cora to J. N.; 47
do to B R.; 24 do to H H.; 47 do to B. W. j 22

Now, here are nine shipments of Corn and the
largest 47 sseks. sod this is the method adop
ted by several Western Houses to extend their
trade. They are uaworthy the patronage of
our Merchants, and shonld be marked as such.

Flour 301 barrels.
Lard 33 kegs.
Oats 48 sacks.

T HE South Carolina Railroad Company hav
ing determined to discontinue this pep&rt-
ineut of their rcrvice, the undersigned, who
has been the Forwarding Agent of the Compa
ny for the last four years, has associated with
him the Chief Clerk in the Department, and,
uoder the same of Gantt 4 Stoney, will contin
ue to receive and forward such articles aa may
be consigned to hia cara. lie trusts, by strict
personal attention, to retain a very liberal share
of the business of the Departmcut.

tom House; and that duties are payable on
such as were not parchsaed on or before the
28th ol February last, and fatten on sh-p board
on or before the 15th of March instant, save such
as arc on the Free Lists.
It it, therefore, necessary that remittances j
