The trash wharf, xvhich, by some persons has
been considered as one of the causes of the late ,
epidemic, is now being removed. The disease, by
which we have recently' been afflicted, has, under
various names visited many of the towns and vi -
age lying in the region south of latitude 33, and
may therefore, with great reason, t e attributed to a
general epidemic constitution of the atmosphere in
that region, modified by the existence ol various
local causes, and the introduction of foreign cases
of fever.
A strict attention to the requirements of the
above Ordinance, will protiab y insure the future |

Mr. Ernenputsch, the Rector of the Academy, i

our best Colleges. His attainments as a scholar ;
and success in imparting useful knowledge, emi- j
nentlv qualify him for the discharge of the im- |
portant duties of his station.
Mr. Ring, the principal English Teacher, re-;
cently engaged by the Board, comes with the high- i
e't recommends ions as to character, talents, Jiie- 1
rary attainments and skill in teaching, and the I
Trustees feel assured tiiat he will sustain the re- j
putation which led to hi- selection.
The branch of the Academy at Surnmervi'ie is
under the immediate management of Mr. Frank- i
lin GE' rge, a gentleman of experience in teach
ing, and highly recommended. The advantage of
the location of this branch of the Academy in one
of the most healthful neighborhoods in the Slate,
and sufficiency remote from the unfavorable in
fluence of a crowded town, are too well Known to ,
need comment.
On the whole, the Board confidently recommend
to the public t. e principal academy and the Branch [
at Summervil e, as being on a better footing than
thev have heretofoie been, and piomising great 1
: usefulness to those who may avail themselves of
| the advantages which thev offer.
