A Late and \ alaable Discovery.
PERHAPS tuere is nothing mor? calculated to
disgust tne public eye than the innumerable
advertisements of nostrums that are constantly ap
pearing in the public prints. All are ready to ex
claim, oar soals are sick, our ears are pained with
every day’s reports ot ills and specifics. This state
ot the public mind Would seem to forbid any person
of delicate mind from sending forth any new dis
coveries in medicine, to the trial of th« public.—
Still, motives of delicacy should not prevent us from
making known real discoveries, which we are con
fident will benefit our fellow men. Thia latter
consideration has prompted the author of these hit
ters lo make them known. He knows they are high
ly efficacious, for he himself, his wife, and many
frieads, have given them a thorough trial. He was
himself a confirmed dyspeptic, so much, that even
his recollection was gone. By using these bitters
he has been restored to health. Mrs. Cosby was
troubled for many years, but was restored lo health
by the use of these bitters. This has been the case
with many ot hts fri- nils. Mr. Cosby in sending
forth this advertisement, addresses those who know
him. He lias been for many years a resident ot
Augusta, at which place he can at any time b«
consulted about lh« bitters. They are good in all
cases of diseases of the digestive organs, the symp
toms of which are indigestion, pain or oppression
in the stomach from food, lossot appetite, riaiuien- j

Radical Cure ol Hernia or Rupture, by Dr.
Chase’s Improved Surgeons’ Trusses.
EINHE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
I store of Messrs. J. J. Robertson k Co., for tha
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
ustiy celebrated instruments. He has now used
theta for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who nave been radi
cally cured, of tills truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the useef these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of tue com
mittee oi the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
44 The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by those wbo wearcther
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
44 The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
::he profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention In hernia, and as furnishing the
■ugliest chances of radical cure.”
The fohowing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Jniunai, published in our own city.
44 All must adnuL of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the odice, and ail ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under
this affikting complaint, will oe treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate, from someresponsi"
lue person, of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments are of ail sizes, and applicable
to every variety of reducible rupture.

ANTi-B ALSAMIC GONORRHOEAL SOLUTION,
Warranted to cure in Five Days.
r r Hls incomparable and invaluable remedy so
long known, and used with such uuparraileled
success in the Canadas for the last 30 yeais, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human system is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable u ills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success bich has attended it through all of its
trying c cumstances, namely, “five days,”—the
same su .ess which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief VVabexothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was purmingthe lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians.—
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an almost
incredible extentthe children of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn premise to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the 44 ait of its com
position until he sleeps witlr his lathers,” although
: free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
with, I may say, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe, to
M. Cheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.
