We the undersigned, piaclif oners of medicine
In Germany, are well await fiat, by our course,
we may forfeit the friendship cl some of the lacul

refrain from an expression of J nr opinion, cither
of the soundness or unsouudntgs of Dr. Goelick s
new doctrine we are happy ts .say that we deem
his Sanative too valuable tkJ to be generally
known —for what our ey es ; bc|iold and our ears
hear, we must believe. *
We nereby sta e, that vrhto Dr. Louis OlFen

the pretended discoverer oi t i» w doctrine and a

hearing so much said about tl;e anatiye, again-t it
and for it, we were induced, |rufo motives of curi

upon a number of our most Dopkless patients; and
we now deem it our bounded fluty (even at the
expense of self-interest) publicly to acknowledge
its efficacy in curing not oiihj consumption, but
other fearful maladies, which tge have heretofore
believed to be incurable. Ou| contempt for the

A Late and Valuable Discovery.
I PERHAPS there is nothing mor° calculated to
disgust tne public eye than the innumerable
advertisements of nostrums that are constantly ap
pearing in the public prints. All are ready to ex
claim, our souls are sick, our ears are pained with
every day’s reports ol ills and specifics. This state
ol the public mind would seem to forbid any person
of delicate mind from sending forth any new dis
coveries in medicine, lo the trial of the public.—
Still, motives oi delicacy should not prevent us from
making known real discoveries, which we are con
fident will benefit our fellow men. Tins latter
consideration has prompted rhe author of these hit
lets to make them known, fie knows they are high
ly efficacious, fur he himself, his wife, and many
friends, have given them a thorough trial. He was
himself a confirmed dyspeptic,so much, that even
his recollection was gone. By using these bitters
he has been restored to health. Mrs. Cosby was
troubled for many years, but was restored to health
by the use ol these hitters. This has been the case
with many of lus fri mis. Mr. Cosby in sending
forth this advertisement, addresses those who know
him. He has been for many years a resident ol
Augusta at w inch place he can at any time ha
consulted about the bitters. They are good in all
cases ofdiseases of the digestive organs, the symp
toms of w hich are indigestion, pain or oppression
in the stomach from food, lossoi appetite, flatulen
cy, heart hum, giddiness in the head, pain in the |
side, shortness of breath, lassitude, general weak- 1
ness, disuit bed sleep, &c The composi ion is en
tirely Botanical, an I has proved efficacious when
many celebrated medicines had failed. In support
of which he refers lhem to Freeman W. Lacy, she
riff of Richmond count", and William T. Thomp
son, editor of the Mirror, and he might re
fer you to many others, bul deems it unnecessary
as ae is willing to place it on its own merits. All
he asks is tor tnose who are afflicted with me dys
pepsia to give it a trial.

Radical Cure ol llernia or Rupture, by Dr*
Chase’s Improved Surgeons’ Trusses.
rfltHE subscriber has opened au office, at the Drug
| store of ,>lessrs. J. J. Robertson & Co., forthe
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
ustly celebrated instruments. He has now- used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ot the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by those who wear other
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The following is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in our own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and tiaat Dr. Chase’s Trusses aie decidedly the best
yet invented to effect tiie object.”
Pei sons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the olhee, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it the mselves. The poor, who are laboring under
this aiflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate,from
ble person, of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments are of all sizes, and applicable
to every- variety ol reducible rupture.

TO THE FACULTY AND HEADS OF
FAMILIES.
DR. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF
TOMATO —a substitute for Calomel, and
does not belong to the family of quack medicines;
fur the reason that the component parts are made
known to the faculty, or any one else that may
wish :o know, by any of the agents keeping them
for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx
iously looked for, some one in almost the extreme
North has advertised a Tomato Pill, purporting to
be made from the stalk, a thing not more aosuiu

say nothing of the difficulty of raising the Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of
which, he holds himself bound, and in honor pledg
ed to prove by their use, that they are all that they
profess to be) and will do for othcis what they
have done for such as mav have used them ; as
w his is a vegetable ol great use, and value, it will
doubtless be valuable information to families to
know that the Yellow are just doubly ?.s valuable
as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
of the hapatine, or active principle, and when used
as a daily vegetable will be found io keep the
system in much better condition than the other
kind ; many will recollect with what trembling
anxiety calomel has been given to children, and
how they then wished for a substitute. It has
long been known that the Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, bul not until of late was it,
aicertaine J that mey comauieu alterative and diu
retic properties, 'the Faculty embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they know what it is Were it a patent mystery,
they would be bound to reject tiie medicine, as they
justly do tire one thousand and one cure-alls of the
day. If you wish to cleanse the system with a
mild, sa-e anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato
Pill, of which a supply, we learn, will soon be in
lus’city. We all know soraethmg auout this,

ANTi-BALSAMIC GONORRIKEAL SOLUTION,
Warranted to cure in Five Days.
'■'HIS incomparable and invaluable remedy so
A long known, and used with such unpanalteled
success in the Canadas for the last 30 yoais, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human system is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable ‘alls the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success Inch has attended it through all of its
trying c cumstances, namely-, “five days,”—the
same su jess which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wabenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others w-as pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians.—
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already- enriched to an almost
incredible extent the children of this warlike prince,
not only by- actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to tiie
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
i places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
\ with, I may-say, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers
Below- is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglis.zed of the deed given by Wabenoshe, to
M. Cheveret, when lie purchased the original recipe,
and hnd twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory- process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.

is to subdue every-vestige of inflamation, and then

THE LUCINA CORDIAL—BEWARE

r |YHE unprecedented popularity of this henefi

same effect; but v\iuch, in realiiy, produce no other
effect than that of swindling the public; and to
give a yet more plausible appearance of lh<- r cu
pidity, those persons affect that their wretche i nos
trums have been in use in England and elsewhere
lor a number of years; whereas, until thfe illustrious
Dr. Magnin made his wonderful discovery, no cure
for barrenness had been ever thought of, or at least
made public; and all those then in use for the
restoration of the decayed virile powers were found
to be of but little avail. Thus, all nostrums adver
tised fur barrenness or the cure of impotency, but
Dr. Magnirfs, are mere catchpenny humbugs,
which would never have been thought of hut for
the appearance and great celebrity ol the LUCINA
CORDIAL As no counterfeit of the name is at
present in circulation, it may in general be a suffi
cient caution for th» purchaser to ask for the Lucina
Cordial, but as lurther assurat.ee, it would he as
well to notet iat its nam , Lucina Cordial, or Elixir

combined arms of France and the United States
are on the outward envelope—that a Fleur de Lis
is printed on the accompanying directions, and
beautifully embossed on the show-bills hanging in
the stores ol those who have the genuine article
for sale.
The celebrity of the Lucina Cordial being such
as it is, it is scarcely necessary to add that it is the
only efficient remedy lor barrenness, and the resto
ration of decayed virile powers evei known; and
that in the cure of Fluor Aibus, Gleet, obstructed,

of the urine, or the involuntary discharge thereof,
its superiority over every other medicine is not on
