TAUGHT AT THE RICHMOND ACADEMY.
IT is the design of the Superintend**! that
Young Ladies shall be taught to execute —
with grace, ease, facility’, and at the same time,
to progress beyoud a mere mechanical, unmean
ing performance. The common raies are to be
studied and understood, and practically tested in
musical composition Miss Rebecca J. Pratt,
will devote her whole time to Twelve Pupils only,
who may wish to practice on the Piano Forte or
Organ. The writer has procured an excellent
Grand Upright Piano Forte, and a good Four
Stop Organ for the use of his pupils. These
are expected as *oon as the navigation of the
river will permit. * Another Instrument is pro
vided for immediate use.

JACK, an excellent barber, about 30 years old,
and 5 feel 6 inches high, with bushy hair, large
mouth, diffident look and talk, and respectful
manners. He had on when he went away, a
Coatee and pantaloons of ejarse light blue Sati
uet, and a while hat. The subscriber believing,
from the easy disposition of Jock, that he was
persuaded to go away by some villain, with »he
intention of felting him, will give SSO to aov bo- -
dy. who will furnish him with evidence sufficient
to convict the thief, and $25 to lodge the Negro
in a la<l, where he can get him, or the same sum,
(§26.) with reasonable expenses, to deliver him
in Auguna.

THE EXERCISES of the Richmond Acade
my will he resumed on the first Monday in
October next, under the direction of James P.
Waddel as Rector; the Rev. Sereno Taylor as
Principal of the English department, and James
B. Lafitte. Esq. as Teacher of the French and
Spanish Languages.
The Studies pursued in the First Class will be
the Latin and Greek Classics, with the Elemen
tary Mathematics, and occasional attention to
such Euglish Studies as from the deficieucy o
the pupils, may seem necessary.
The Second Class will attend to all the bran
ches es a plain and solid English Education. As
sistant Teachers will he provided should the num
ber of Pupils rentier it expedient.
In the hirst Class, the terms of Tuition are
Eight Dollars per quarter.
In the French and Spanish, or either, Eight
Dollars per quarter.
In the department under the direction of Mr.
Taylor, Six Dollars. One Dollar per quarter for
the two Winter quarters is required for wood in
addition.
By a tegulaiion of the Board of Trustees, the
Teacheis are not allowed to receive any Pupil
into their respective Classes, without a receipt
from the Treasurer, of which all concerned will
please take notice.
