On the 16th alt, Gov. Bullock published a procla
mation offering a reward of 81,600 for tho arreat of
Thosma E. Finch, of Chorokeo county, and
tional sum of f1000, should he. at the trial, be cou-
victed.
Finch is charged with having committed a murder
in Chorokee county In 1854—otven y«trt ap».
Ho mint liave boon arret*tod immediately after the
proclamation was published, it not before it apjiesr-
ed In print; for on the 18th, three days alter, ttn
Governor’s warrant for the f 1,500 fur the arrest, was
presented at the State Treasury for payment.
Th» question naturally Aiises, did not Finch pro
cure the representations to bo made to the Governor
which Induced tho offering of such a reward;
did ho not then have lilmaelf an * -ted and pock<
reward himself, or a large portion ol It ?
The crime was committed seven years
all of which time he was at large. At this
extraordinarily large reward is offered
immediately arrested!
Of course wo do not know, but there
suspect that Finch pocketed tint reward.
