The election excitement in this vil

the time the firing was incessant, and it
continued during the rest of tho hour.
The Republican and Democratic par
ties had severally selected to-day ns the
most suitable time for the grand demon

were evidently desirous of avoiding dis
turbances. The respective parties formed
iu proccssiou aud passed each other with
out break. Nothing happened until the
meetings lmil adjourned. At o o cioek,
p. m., both parties met iu the plaza and
exelianged differeut^views. A pistol shot
was fired, when a general fight occurred.
Men, womeu and children hurried to
their houses, but the fight was kept up.
