An Kooning mt the Perry Monte.
Quite a large dancing party was given
laat sveniag at Ihs Perry House, which
■•rpaaed in brilliance and aojoyment
any entartainaaant of the season.
The oomaiUtaa of invitation consisted
of Frank 8. EIDa, 0. E. Hoch.t raster, R.
X. Mulford, 8. B. Murdoch. The com
mittee of arrangement was composed of
D. F. Dosier, 0. B. Grimes, and D. W.
Johnson.
Tba large dining room was converted,
for the nonee, into a dancing ball. In it
were gathered the beenty and grace of tbo
oily. The fairest maidens that ever the
temps shown on were there, in ell the
oharms of witching loveliness and de
lightful toilette*. Th* man, too, had don-
nad their choicest looks and dree* ooats,
and seemed gay and happy as lark* in a
meadow. It was a aoene of brightness
and joy, with not a thought of ears rip
pling the surface of society. The ladies
were never more beautiful or arrayed
with more exqnieite taste. If wa knew
the names we’d attempt come of the toi
lettes. Enough, however, to my the;
were elegant. Many married ladies were
among the belles of the bell, while those
of elder yeere beamed approval by their
smiles, and looked delighted on.
Among the brilliant stranger* present
was the sparkling Mias F. T. B— e, of
Norfolk, Virginia; the beautiful, fas
cinating Mias H—d—n, of Mississippi;
the vivacious and graceful Miss
V—d—e, of Delaware; tha winning
and charming Miss M. B—II, of
Montgomery, and the radiantly lovely
Miss H—I—d, of the same city; Miss
C—t—m, the belle of Talbot county,
where P. G. in G. delight to dwell; the
peerless and gifted Miss D. F—;, of Rus
sell county; the elegant Miss C—o, of
Kentucky, and the witching, witty Miss
E. H., of “Kilgobben Castle."
The danoe went on to a late hour—the
merry quadrille, the stately lahoera, th*
luaoious waits, and thrilling gallu—all
adding to the pleasures of the night that
many wished had no ending.
An exeellant rapper served ax an inter
lude in the round of mirth, and the joy
ous assemblage went home to dream of
manly forms and beautiful faces.

A Masonio Lodge of twsnty-Bix mem
bers was organized at Cusssta on Tues
day. Ordinary Brooks end Messrs J. 0.

from ths Columbus Lodge. Dr. GiUis
was installed as Master, Dr. T. J. Reins
as Senior Warden, and Mr. Whit .Horn os
Junior Warden. Ths Columbus delegates
have returned horns.
Real estate was sold by tha Sheriff for
taxes as follows in Cutsets; A half-sore
lot fronting the Court Htuse Square,
sold for $2.50; an sere lot below the jail
for $6; other lots brought from $5 to
$10; a half interest in a framed store
house realized $27 60. This property did
not sell for sufficient to pay taxes. Titles
were unincumbered. From this the fair
inference is that real estata in Cusssta is
cut very desirable. Mr. Shipp waa the
principal purchaser.
At administrator's sole, the Allum's
place, with 350 acres of land improved
and gin house was sold for $530.
The Redding place, improved with 1,300
acres of land was withdrawn, no high
er bid than $2,500 having been reeeived.
Other property'brought equally low fig
ures.
The sales were for cash and no one
seemed to have the money. This ia whol
ly due to the tact of raising all cotton and
little corn for the past several years.
