Luke church in commemoration of Ihe service-
and death of Rev. James E. Evans, who was s.>
long and intimately connected with Methodism
in Columbus. Addresses were made by Hev.
Walker Lewis, Rev. James Ware. Mr. O. J. Pea
cock. Mr. A. C. I’lewnllen, Mr. J. A. Fra/er, and
by the pastor, Rev. G. O. N. Macdonnell. The
services were very interesting, and was a feeling
tribute to the memory of a great and good man,
whose whole life was spent in the service of the
Master. The addresses were all eulogistic of tlu?
life and character of the deceased, and were at
tentively listened to by a good congregation.

Mrs. Jane Reed died at her residence on Eighth
street yesterday morning at 1 o’clock, after a
lingering illness. Hlie was one of the oldest resi
dents of Columbus and was 84J year® of age. She
had been a consistent member of the First Baj -
tist church for many years, and died in the full
assurance of a blessed immortality. For many
years she was cared for by the Odd Fellows of
this city and a few charitable members of the
First Baptist church. In her will she left all her
property, including a small house and lot and a
ft w personal effects, to the Odd Fellows. She
was truly a good woman, ami was always faithful
to her friends. Her funeral will take place from
the First Baptist church this morning at in
