heartrending accident occurred in
Lavilla, jn the surburbs of this city
to.-Jay. About two o’clock Mrs. Wm.
Cla^te Juid just finished the family
meal, and two of her children stood
by her near a gasoline stove reservoir,
which bIio was about to fill. From
some unexplained cause, the vessel
of gasoline, which Mrs. Clarke held
became iguighted, and a fearful ex
plosion occurrod, fill; ng the room in
stantly jvilh a volume of intense
llnme. Mrs. Clarke and her three
children were burned in a most ter-
■iblo ;manner. The three children
have died, and there is little hope of
recovery of the mother. Mr. pl^rj^s
is one of the leading business men
in his place, and Mrs. Clake waB
greatly beloved by a largo circle of
friends. Tho sad calamity has cast
a gloom over the entire pQJJ)mifnity.
