Mose Halliburton, the', negro burglar
who gave Messrs. O’Pry. & Parnell such
alight wbeu they "arrested him, came
very near going for Mr. Butnev the
sheriff, last Suuday morning. Mr. B.
was notified by another prisoner
that Mose had got into the recess be-
twesn the inner and outer cell doors
with the intention of assaulting Mr. B.
and making bia escape. The Sheriff
made him crawl back right speedily.
His wife had brought him a handsaw
filo in a pone of bread, and with it he
had cut a bar in the inner door and
made the feed window targe enough to
crawl tbrongh. Eis well laid plans
failed, and now his wife is in jail too,
for her part in the transaction' Mose
had a stick tiiid {i knife that be barl
made out of the steel shank of an old
shoe. He is a desperate rascal, but
