New York, March 9—Charging that
the auger trust 'has deliberately plot
ted to ruin It, the Pennsylvania Sugar
Refining Company, has brought suit for
$$0,000,040 against the American Sugar
Refining' Company. The actual dam
ages are placed at $to,000,000 but the
company ask* for treble that sum.
In the papers the alleged tactics of
the sugar trust In crushing a business
rival are fully exposed. It la shown
that the trust Is willing to Invest a
large sum of money to keep a rival

facturing plant* In South Carolina are worth a million and a half dollars
more than those of Georgia, and that tha Increase In th* value of that
form of property during th* four years from 1104 to 1*44 was more than
eight and a half millions greater than In Georgia.

three succeeding years thsy do not count as showing th* rapidity with
which, not only the two states mentioned, but all th* Southern etalea. have
