a fugitive charged with having ab
ducted Gertrude Clonts, a pretty 17-
year-old schoolgirl of Caaton, N. C.
Tb* girl, who returned to her borne
laat Thursday, had steadfastly refqaed
to make a statement of any kind to
her parents In regard to her where
abouts since her departure with Taylor,
until today, when she Informed her fa
ther that she had been married to Tay
lor at Ureenvlllt, ft. C. Telegraphic
Inquiry promptly elicited a reply from
the Rev. Vaughan, at Oreen street, that
city, to the effect that he had married
J. B. Taylor end oertrude fronts.
Taylor has a writ* aad two children
living In this county. Papon were at
once mad* out for the apprehension
of Taylor on the bigamy charge and
placed In the hand* of Bhariff Hunter,
who has been making a vigorous search
for Taylor, who will when captured,
have to etand trial for bigamy.
ft Is now learned that after Taylor
met Mis* Clonts In Asheville, after
their departure from Canton, the rouple
went from here to Tennessee, from
there to Kenturky. then aa far flouth
