“There, little girl, don't cry; they havo
broken your heart, I know;
And the wild, glad gleams of your
schoolgirl dream* arc things of the
long ago.
But heatfen holds all for which you
sigh;
There, little girl, don't cry."
It Is very easy to mistake heartache
for heartbreak when one Is eighteen
and tha “only man ln the world" has
proved false. Tho pain Is very real
whllo It lasts, and It carries in Its wako
disillusionment, which is a sad ex
perience for any girl to suffer.
The newspapers told of. a woman the
other day who, because she had been
Jilted In her youth, never spoke to a
man again aa long aa sho lived. She
was not big enough to rise above one
mtn’a perfidy and Judged all hla sox
by him.
There are very few women who go
through Ufa without a fair share of
heartache, end It can usually be laid
to some man’s account. But becauae
one man has dlsappolnttd you It Is not
fair to assume that ail men are as un-
sltlsfactory as he.
Very often the man who meets all
your requirements at eighteen would
not suit you at all a few years later.
But you feel that your heari Is broken
when ho proves fatso to you, and you
think that the sun will never shine
again, and wonder If life Is worth liv
ing, and shed a great many tears.
It all seems very like heartbreak,
llttio girls, but It isn't; it Is only dis
appointment and hurt pride, and per
haps a certain amount of heartache;
but that's a long way' from licart-
beenk.
And always remember that though
one young man has proved himself to
be tickle and heartless, there are thou
sands of splendid, manly young men
left, and one of them Is the right man
for you, and he is comln
straight and suro as sun!!
heart of a Bower.
Don’t let the perndy of any man turn
you Into n bitter, cynlcul woman. Have
'our little weep over disappointed
opes, but be brave and sweet and rise
above your disappointment.
There are many men worth living
for, but there are none worth spoiling
your nature for. ,
A cynical, embittered woman gets no
Joy out of life for herself and brings
no Joy Into the life of Rny one else.
Just because her own love affair has
gone wrong she looks on all love with
prejudiced eyes. It Is becauae of this
bitterness and prejudice that no man
cares to revive his fa|th in mankind
and love.
Occasionally a foolish, little, griev
ing girl will write and tell me that
her heart Is broken and that she feels
like committing suicide.
And the papers constantly tell us of
girls who have actually taken their
lives because they have been disap
pointed In love.
Poor, mistaken children 1 If they
could only see far enough ahead to
realise that In a few years not only will
their wounds be healed, but almost for
gotten!
Try and be big enough, girls, to take
your sutterlng bravely; time le bound
to help It, and the day Is sure to come
when you will look back and thank
the kind fate that kept .you from mar
rying the man who once hod the power
to thrill you so.
There le not one woman In a hun
dred you know who marries the first
man she fanclee herself In love with,
though Rmt fact does not keep her

but It Isn't, and when Mr. Right comes

I’d fly away to your window at night
When shadows come flitting down.
I’d sing to you of “Home. Sweet Home."
Of “a home not mado with hands,'
Where I hope to dwell, eternally,
With you In the angels' band.
In the long ago I loved you.
And, alas! I love you yet;
"Love Is not love that alters,"
Love is not love we forgot
Love—a thing delightful.
Love—the things that live.
Love—the soul Immortal,
Which God alone can give.
