BIRTHDAY PARTY.
I-ittlc Miss Esther Kelly was hostess
Monday afternon at a beautiful party
at which twenty, children were enter
tained In honor of her sixth birthday.
The party was given at the home of
little Miss Kelly's grandmother, Mr
\V. S. Kelly, of West End, and afti
several merry games were played for
which prizes were awarded, delicious
refreshments were served.

The marriage of Miss Berta Strick
land and Mr. Ernest John Saywelt took
place Saturday morning ut 9:10 o'clock
at the Eplecopal church, at West End-.
The bride was given away by her
brother-in-law,.Mr..Edward a. Warner,
and the ceremony was performed by
Rev. J. J, p. Perry.
An interesting feature of the mar
rlage ceremony wae the celebration of
the holy communion Immediately after
the nuptial rlteS.
Little Miss Ethel Power and Master
Frank Russey, of Anniston, preceded
the bride to the altar.
The beautiful decorations were ar
ranged partly by tha Young Ladles’
Guild of the church.
Miss Powell wore a pretty frock of
white mull and lace, with sash of yel
low ribbon, and carried a baaket of
marguerites.
Master Russey, who bore the ring.
Wore a stylish white suit.
The bride's lingerie toilet waa an
exquisite creation of white mull and
lace, with tulle veil, adjusted with or
ange blossoms.
Her shower bouquet was of white
roses and lilies of the valley.
The ushers were: Messrs. B. M.
Plrlckland and W. 8. Kelley, of At
lanta, and Mr. Noble Bell, of Anniston.
Mr. nnd Mrs. Saywell left at noon
over the Southern railway for a trip
of several weeks. The bride's hand
some golng-away gown was of blue
silk, with hat en suite.

The bride, a dainty and attractive

princess. The tulle veil was adjusted
with a wreath of orange blossoms. She
carried an elaborate shower bouquet of
lilies of the valley, tied with a silk
gauze scarf, hand-embroidered in
iprays of lilies of the valley, and w'ore
olonel Russell’s wedding gift, a mag
nificent diamond necklace.
The maid of honor, the bride's only
sister, wore a white chiffon gown,
trimmed with Irish point lace, a white
hat with sweeping ostrich feathers and
carried an arm bouquet of white lilies.

w-as the groom's wedding gift, a chain
of gold linked together with pearls,
with a large pearl heart with diamond
center.
A brilliant reception at the home of

Mr. and Mrs. Russell left on their prt-
""le car for an extensive bridal trip.
The bride's traveling dress was a
brown marquesette, with hat of tan
leghorn, with brown ostrich plumes.
Colonel and Mrs. Russell were fol
lowed to the train by a large concourse
of their friends, prominent In all the
walks of life, to wish them "bonvoy-
age" on their wedding trip. They left
on a special train, which will run spe
cial to St. Louis, arriving there at 4
o'clock Friday afternoon, where they
will remain until Saturday night, and
during their short stay will be exten
sively entertained by prominent St.
Louisians, friends of Colonel Russell,
They will visit Chicago, Buffalo, Nlag.
ara Falls, Toronto. Montreal and Que
bec, and after their Canadian trip will
return via Boston and New York.
Very many magnificent gifts were
received by Colonel Ruesell and his
bride from friends In every part of the
country.

railroad circle# here a report has gain
ed currency that the Cincinnati, New
Orleans and Texas Pacific, Alabama
Great Southern New Orleans and
Northeastern, Alabama and Vicksburg
ami Vicksburg, Shreveport and Pacific
railways, known as the Queen and
Hot times are scheduled to take place
when the faithful of the O. O. P. meet
Sunday afternoon In Turner's Tnber
naele. The meeting will take place at
3:30 o'clock In the afternoon and there
nrc Indications that the two factlone
of the Republican! will throw compli
ments at each other If not something
heavier.
Thomas M. Blodeett, a well-known
white Republican, Is going to speak,
and It Is said he la going to say some
unpleasant things about some of the
others In the party. It Is probable that
the meeting will be attended by a large
number of negroes, with a apt Inkling
of whites.

the state will find It hard to mend.
Most of the testimony thus far pre
sented hns tend'd to show that the
state’s chief witness waa In dose re
lotions with the detectives who sought
to destroy the Western Federation of
Miners and considerable time has been
spent In establishing facts that tend to
show thnt many of the crimes charged
to the union men were Inspired and
executed by agents of the mine owners
of Colorado.
