The semi-annual convention of the
Georgia Htato Veterinary Association
opened Thursday afternoon at 2:30
o'clock at the Kimball House, with
members present from all over the

During the morning the officers of the
organization met with the committee on
legislation and talked over several bills
that will be presented to the legislature
during the present session.
The early part of the opening session
Thursday afternoon was devoted to
routine business and the reports of the
various committees. President Peter F.
Bahnsen, of Amerlcus, will deliver his

him will come Dr. C. A. Gary, state
veterinarian of Auburn, Ala., with
paper entitled, "Veterinary Medicine

Thursday and Friday night at 8 o’clock

Covington, Ga., July 4.—It Is report
ed that the largest real estate deal
recorded In Newton county In a num
ber of years has been consummated by
the Bibb Power Company at Stewart,
twelve miles south of this city.
The lands bought consisted of about
8.000 uores, belonging to A. S. King,
and It Is understood that $16,000 was
the price paid for the property.

Louisville and Nashville railroad are
about to clash over the construction of
a bridge over the Greensferry road by
the latter.
The railroad, upon completing the
bridge, notified the county authorities,
and Superintendent Donaldson notified
the officials that the bridge did not
come up to specifications. Nearly a
month has elapsed, It Is charged, and
the railroad has made no move to come
up to the Hpeciflcations.
The board of county commissioners
are now looking Into the matter.
Flag Hoisted at Tallulah.

Tallulah Falls, Ga., July 4.—Some
time during last night, or very early
this morning, some one raised a flag
about 20 feet above Point Inspiration,
Juat across the chasm from this vil
lage. This point is 1,200 feet above
the falls.
The guests that are stopping at va
rious places here are spending a quiet
day visiting the falls.
