WOMAN IS INJURED
BY LIGHTNING SHOCK
Mt. Vernon. Ga„ July 24.—During a
thunder itorm yeaterday afternoon the
residence of D. IV. Folaom woe etruck
by lightning. Mrs. Foliom received
a terrible shock and bums, but It was
not fatal. Others were shocked, and
the house was almost wrecked, the
furniture being a complete wreck.
The new court house was struck sev
eral times, but not damaged.

attended the meeting here yeaterday.

shot at and attempted to kill both of
his young daughtsrs, aged 14 and 18

Announcement Is mads that the
Fawcett Stock Company, which has
been nt the Grand all the eummer
season, will close Its engagement In
Atlanta next week.
he closing attraction will be one In
which probably every member of the
cast has played, "East Lynne," that
delightful story of love, with Its tinge
of pathos. With the final presentation
on Saturday night of next week the
engagement will be over and the mem
bers of the company will be free to go
to their respective homes or Join the
companies In which they will play this
winter.
The Fawcett company will have been
here ten weeks, and during that time
has won a warm place In the hearts of
Atlanta theatergoers. That It Is far
and away above the average, no one
who has seen the company can deny,
and It IS hoped that the management
of the Grand will be able to secure
the same company for next summer.
Announcement Is also made that
Brandon Hurst, who has been playing
the "heavy" for the company, has
closed a contract with Charles Froh-
man to play In one of his companies,
and will leave for New York at the
end of this week.
WOMAN WILL SWEAR

Arraigned Wednesday morning In
police court on complaint of neigh
bors bscauso of her drinking habits.
Mrs.. Beulah Davis, of 118 Magnolia
street, said she was willing to take an
oath never to drink again, but refused
to allow It to be administered In court.
She explained that she Is a Catholic
and said she would go before a priest
and take the oath. /
Mrs. Davis Insisted she hss already
quit drinking, but said she was willing
to make her act binding with an oath. I

VETERAN FINDS
HIS LOST ARM
Washington. July 24.—After many
years Capt. J. F. Allen, of St. Paul, has
discovered that his arm, lost at Antle-
tam, Is now In the army medical mu
seum here. The physician who per
formed the operation preserved the
member, and It was found In excellent
state of preservation. Allen had a
photo made.

The committee from council and the
water board meets at > o'clock Wed
nesday afternoon for the purpose of
again taking up the bids for a new
pump at the Hemphill station.
As council will meet Friday after
noon, It is probable that the Joint com
mittee will try to reach a final agree
ment In order that a report may bo
made at this special seaelon.

RUSSIA’S VICTIMS

St. Petersburg, July 24.—A legal
reign of terror has been Inaugurated
throughout Russia as a result of the
new mode of military procedure under
which there are just 72 hours between
ti.dlctmeit and execution. At Kiev
ftvo mutinous sappers were executed
and another sapper sentenced.
A young man named Daub, for the
theft of 15, was eentenced to death and
two girl accomplices, aged 12 and 20
years, respectively, were exiled to hard
iabor for life. Also at Riga a man
named Berland, went Into a clothing
store, selected an overcoat and then
started for the door without having
paid for It. He was hanged. The vic
tims are being hanged In droves.
MRS. ANGLIN FOUND;

Mrs. Annie Anglin, 28 years of age,
who disappeared from her home Tues
day morning, was found early Wednes-
day morning by Policeman Swords, in
Decatur street.
