The beautiful luncheon at which Mrs,
Reuben Arnold entertained at the
Capital City Club Wednesday was a
compliment to Mrs. Harvey Hill. The
occasion was delightfully Informal and
assembled ten of the young married
friends of the hostess. These were
seated about n table elegant In Its
appointments and most artlstto In Its
decorations. The centerpiece was a
great bowl of white enchantress car
nations and swansonla, and the place
cards were white, with the mc/ogram
of the hostess dons In letters of gold.
Mrs. Arnold wore a lovely gown of
whlto mull, embroidered In pink rose
buds, end a hat of pink straw, trimmed
with pink plumes.
Mrs. Harvey Hill wars a white lin
gerie gown, made with entre deux of
tucks and lace. Her becoming hat was
of white straw, trimmed with roses
and plumes.

The marriage Tuesday afternoon, at
New York, of Mrs. Nannallne Holt
Inman, formerly of Atlanta, to Mr.
James B. Duke, president of the Amer
ican Tobacco Company, is of Interest
to a large circle of the bride's friends
throughout the state. The ceremony
was performed by Rev. Dr. J. B. Bur
rell, pastor of the Marble Collegiate
church, at the residence of Mrs. Wil
liam Bchuylsr Btackpole, 2X0 Bt. Johns
place, Brooklyn. Only a few Intimate
friends witnessed the quiet ceremony.
The bride woe accompanied by her
mother, Mrs. Holt, and by her young
son, Master Walker P. Inman, Jr.
Mrs. Btackpole, at whose home the
marriage took place, Is. an old frlond
of Mrs. Holt, tho bride's mother.
After the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs.
Duke left In an automobile for their
handsome country estate at Somerville,
N. J., where their honeymoon will be
apent.
The romance which cultlmated In
the marriage on Tuesday began about
a year ago, at Toxaway, where Mrs.
Inman was visiting, and where she was
regarded os one of the beltoa and beatp.
ties of the summer season.
Mr. Duke as president of the Ameri
can Tobacco Company Is well known
throughout the financial world, and has
accumulated a very large fortune.
The bride, as Mrs. Inman, was one
of the most admired young women In
the social life of Georgia. Possessing
unusual physical beauty, with a per
sonal charm which attracted and com
pelled admiration, shs was a leader In
the exclusive society of Atlanta, where
she resided for many years.

Mrs. M. B. Pilcher has completed ar
rangements for the state D. A. It. to
hold a conference at Monteagie on the
morning of August 3. Following tho
meeting a reception will bo tendered
the visiting'Daughters by the Mont
eagie Circle. The members of local
chapter ere to bo well represented at
the conference.
There Is a flourishing D. A. Circle
at Monteagie, whose members repre
sent D. A. R. chapters, not only
throughout the stale, but In other
states. Mrs. George W. Fall, who went
to Monteagie this morning, who was
largely Instrumental In founding tho
circle, and Is tho able president, will
preside at D. A. B, Day exercises on
the mountain. Tho circle le not a reg
ular chapter, as the members all hold
their voting membership elsewhere,
but It affords a delightful opportunity
for the Daughters to get together for
the purpose of discussing the work of
the organisation and for social Inter
course.
At last year's conference, which as
planned for this year, took place dur
ing the AugUBt Woman's Congrens at
the Monteagie assembly, lasting a
week, about eight states wore repre
sented, and a woman delegate from
each wag elected vice president.—
