In the coming gubernatorial election, to
bo held next Thursday, are many In
Glynn county, and tho adherents of
each candidate are strong In their be

will carry this county. • A number of
persons concede Glynn to Pope Brown.
Reports from surrounding counties al
so favor the south Georgia candidate,
especially In the counties to the south
of Glynn. But thl* I* not taken seri
ously by the adherents of the other
candidates. Dick Russell has a large
following In thtu city and many bete

sentiment, however, seeme stronger at
the present than at any time during the
campaign, being greatly strengthened
by his speech at The court house In
this city several weeks ago. Judge
Russell nlso held u rally In Brunswick
several clays ago. Joe Brown has lost

DR. 0G0EN PREACHES
ON HELPING TEMPTED
In • strong sermon Sunday evening
Dunbar H. Ogden, pastor of Central
Presbyterian church, said that It Is not
posslhle to tempt a man beyond tho line
of hls wants. '
“A man I* never tempted." aahl he,
"except htenuee of some want In hls
life. "Meh ask If they are responsible
for the!r<wants. For some—the.funda-
mentp! wants of all human beings—
they arc not responsible. But for
other*—the wants they cultivate—they
are responsible. If a. m*n Is tempted to
lust It Is because there I* something In
hlfc heart that respond* to the tempta
tlon. So with all temptations. To In'
crease ouT wants on the side of slit Is to
lay ourpelves at the mercy of the
tempter. But tn gather up our lives to
ward God, Is to mako It Increasingly
difficult for temptation to sway us.
Many a young man makes the mistake
of giving himself free rein, thinking
some day to put It all aside and gather
UP hls life. But alas! he hoe cultivated
wants and desires which In th« hour of
temptation sweep away hls soul."
Christ Is able to help tempted men
and women. Dr. Ogden continued, be
cause He was tempted nnd was perfect
ed thru suffering. Hls three great temp
tations body forth all the temptations
of mankind—the temptation of the flesh,
of the spirit and of tho world vision.
And Christ Is able to succor-those who
are tempted, which means that He
stands ready to run out *t: a cry and
with the power of God atrengthen and
save the human soul.
Dr. Ogden In closing made an earnest
exhortation for hls hearers to embrace
the secret of calling on Christ In tho
hour of temptation. Instead of depend
Ing upon their strength alone.

kinds of amusement by becoming enga^_

American widow, and then failing In love
with her young and charming niece.
While the play la by no mean* written
