“It was In this accidental way that
the girl came to be a model for artists.
“I went to the studio with her and
found everything all right. I always
did that aa long as she was a model.
"Such lies as they have told! Never

“They say her mother put her on

GREEK LABOR AT MILLS
PROVES TR0UBLE80ME
Specifll to The Georgian,
Gadsden, Ala., July 16.—The Dwight
Manufacturing Company have . been
Using some Greek laborers In their
largo cotton mill near this city ss an
experiment recently, but they hnve
proved troublesome. They became dls
satisfied and went on a strike Satur

to work. The cotton mills throughout
this part of the state are having
g(oat deal of trouble to get labor.
A FARMERS’ TOWN.
The Deen Realty & Improvement Co.,
of Waycross, Go., has started an Inno
vation at ufferman, On., a town which
the company recently purchased from
the Southern Pine Co., and which It Is
proposed shstl be mgde Into a model
own for farmers to live In and run
their farms within a radius of several
miles around.
This Is a nsw Idea In the South, al
though It prevails generally In Euro;
and Is becoming quite common In t
West. The Deen Co.’a town will have
this advantage over the established
order In other countries, In that It la
osed that all modem convenience
ns electric tights, waterworks,
public library and a telephone system
shall be Installed at Offerman, thus
making this little town ss nearly like a
city as It Is possible to have It.
It la thought that If ths farm commu
nity can offer the conveniences of a
city, the constant ruah from the farms
to the cities may be checked, and that
the fanner boys and girls may be In.
duced to sta'y on the farm.
This la an Interesting experiment
which the Deen Company la making In
the South, and If It should correct the
tendency, which Is regretted every
where, It will be a long step toward
real progress for the agricultural
classes, on which the South mors than
any other section hi obliged to depend
for Its material wealth.
