DAILY COTTON LETTER.
New York, July JO.—Foreign cablea
were weak title morning, and together
with better weather forecasts for the
belt, caueed an easier tone to the
York market.
Our market epened 6 to 7 polnte down
and continued under preeaure up to
noon. There seemed to be quite a large
lot of cotton for sale, with but few
takers.
While there was some activity from
the bears, the disposition was not to
be aggressive,- the bulk of the trade
seeming content to hold oft and await
developments. Crop reporti continue
mixed, but sentiment on the floor up
pears to be against the market. It being
the general belief that the crop Is pro
Ing nicely In most localities,
the other hand, the bulls claim
that should hot, dry weather follow the
recent rains, the sappy condition <t- the
plant will cause It to shed badly.

vorable thle morning, the market wan
confronted with moat serlftus newn
from abroad concerning the situation
In Russia and Ita affect nn foreign fi
nancial centers and operators were for
thle reenoa deterred from supporting
our security lint. Rumors of a most
sinister characted. concerning condi
tions In London and Paris were In cir
culation and our market disregarded all
of thane nnd advanced steadily through
out the neenlon and Into, the second
hour of the afternoon. It la safe to
say that the European situation, from
a financial and political point of view,
la being deeply stirred by events In
Russia, and today’s trading on foreign
bourses reflects anticipations of a most
eerloua cltaracter. We believe, how
ever, that the larger banking Interests
and governments, outside of Russia,
are prewired for the emergency and
will control It within euch ltmlutlone
as will avert even a partial disaster to
the world’s security merkete. Even
admitting the prospect ot full unes for
all money we have at command In. thla
country our crop situation and econom-

Idea f a change for the worst at pres
ent. We expect t see the market sus
