New York. Aug. 9 —On selling by
Ttiterday's buyers the cotton, market
opened 2 to 5 points lower. The sell-
in* ns* Influenced by Improved new*
from the South and lower cables. After
the call the bears added conatderable
pressure to the market. Commission
houses were sellers.
Sentiment was decidedly bearish In
the cotton market today, and from start
to finish weakness was the feature.
New low records for the season were
made through the entire list, all op
tion* selling below the 10c mark.
The weather and crop newa were
the factory the following being sam
ples of the day's news:
Houston received 1,849 and Galves
ton 652 new bales of cotton today.
Following are samples of crop and
weather news recalved today:
cuere, DeWItt county, Texas, In a
dispatch says: "Yesterday waa a ban
ner cotton day for Cuere, about *80
bales coming In. and It came from all
pans of the country, as the prices
paid at Cuere attracted the cotton."
.Nacogdoches, Texas, wlrea: “The cot
ton crop, except In a tew communities.
Is line to date. It la reported by
farmers that front one-half to two-
thirds of a crop of cotton Is now-ma
tured. If this be the caee, the county
has from 10,000 to 14,000 bales In sight.
Too much rain la reported In some
localities and the boll weevils and boll
worms are getting In their deetructlve

Louisiana and the other from Missis
sippi, have just been auctioned off In
New Orleans for 12c per pound each.

speculative opinion that waa apparent
