corresponding period a year ago and 6
points In 1903, while in 19**4 the condition
Improved 1.6 points. Many correspondents
place particular emphasis on thy-deteriora
tion In quality during October.
All the Important states show a falling
off In condition, of over 1*» points, with
the exception of Georgia. Louisiana and
Texas. Continued rain, which did so much
damage over almost the entire hell, the
absence In Texas and In consequence the
condition In this state dropped only 1.2

Chicago, Nov. 1.—Wheat price*
closed at about the beat figures of.the
day Influenced by the increased spec
ulative buying and strength in the cash
market of the country. Closing pVlces
were 5-8®3-Hc higher for wheat; un
changed to l-8c higher for corn, and
1-8{U-4c higher on oats. Provisions
were 17 1-2 to 35c higher.
Private wire house* were the largest
buyers of wheat. The volume of busi
ness showed an appreciable increase.
The report of cash sales ut Duluth
and In the Southwest was u strength
ening factor. Sentiment In wheat 1*
growing more bullish.
: Corn was weak early, but later re
covered fractionally.
A sharp advance In pork was the
feature of the provisions trade.
Primary receipts of wheat were 795;-
000, against 1,900,000 bushels a year
ago.
