Io this country, every white man is sup

he pleases, for public office. At least, that

splendid lot of laud to tho County authori

hesitated—would not givo him a positive
answer, putting him off by saying, that a
great many lots had been offered, and they
were not yet ready to decide. We have
learned from other parties that the lot of
land offered by Mr. Reynolds, is one among
tbe best in, the County—both ns regards
soil and timber—aod that nine hundred
dollars is an exceedingly low price for it.
Wei hoard yestordny on tbo otrecte, that
tbe Know Nothing County authorities were

to our citizens, is io tho employ of tho sev

last Saturday for the porposo of persuading
his friends to vote the Democratic ticket, or
merely for recreation, we are not informed.
