per—has many spots of fertile soil, is ad

physical delight to breathe.” Colorado

Shortly after midnight of Friday,
as policeman J. R. Thompson wits riding
in his division through Harrison street, bis
attention was directed to the residence of
Patrick Price, by d.stressing groans and
the smell of burning cloth; he soon effected
an entrance and found Mrs. Price lying on
the ground, her clothing consuming, and
the flames commur.icattug to combustible
materials in the room- He immediately
gave alarm, and received assistance from a
toot policeman and some neighbors. The
dames were soon extinguished and every
attention directed to alleviate the sufferings
ot Mr*. P, but to no avail; she expired
about 9 o’clock, Saturday morning.

to the Council, that Chapman Powell bad
progressed in bis building, to be located on
the corner of Decatur and Whitehall stroetr,
so far as to lay the foundation of his build
ing and frame the.nme, prior to the panage
of the Ordinance, in relation to the erection
of wooden buildings, on without notice to
him of said Ordinance, and whereby he
may have great loss: be it.
Resolved. That said Powell b« allowed
to proceed with his building, on the condi
tion that Mid bouse be removed in three
years at ia aet forth in said Powell's peti
tion.
