TO DKIGGISTS AN 1> I>EA LERS IN
MEDICINE.
50" DR WISTAU’b BALSAM OF WILD j
CHERRY, the celebrated and infallible remedy 1
for the cure of Consumption, Asthma, and Liter- j
Complaint was discovered some six or seven years ,
ago, in the city of Philadelphia, the residence ot j
one of the most distinguished Physicians that ever
lived. Since that time it has, by its own merits,
been rapidly, surely and safely working its way
through the opposition of quacks and counterfeit
ers, until, by its true value and intrinsic ex
cellence, it has gained for itself a most enviable
popularity, and established itself in the confidence
of an intelligent and enlrghted public from one
end of the continent to the ollu-r. Ihe testimony
of thousands who have been relieved and cured j
by this valuable article, will show that it stands
unrivalled—at the head of all other medicines for
the cure of diseases for which it is recommended,
The genuine Dr. Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cher
ry is now for sale by duly appointed agents, and
all respectable dealers in medicines, in all large
cities and all important towns throughout the
United States, Canadas and British provinces.
Beware of the Syrups and oth>*r preparations
of Wild ('berry, which are only imitations.
Be careful and get the genuine and original Dr.
Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, signed 1. Bulls,
on the w rapper.
For sale in Augusta, wholesale and retail, by
II V VILAND, RISLEV A CO., and also by
THOM AS BARRETT A CO., and Dealers in j
Medicines generally in Georgia.

COTTON—During the past week our Cotton
market has exhibited much the same appearance
as noticed since the arrival of I lie Sarah Sands.
It whs generally supposed the advices per Cam
bria wo .Id somewhat settle it, hut since they have
been received, loners and sellers are nearly as
wide apart in their views as ever, and the conse
quence is that, the offering stock is light and " ill
continue so until holders can get their a-king rales.
During the past week there has been an improved
inquiry, and all the lois placed on the market tor
sale have been greadily snatched up at prices
ranging from 1) to 10 rents for ordinary mid mid
dlmg—buyer- would willingly p<V 10 cents for
round and I<>l for fair in square bales, hut
there is litlle of this or the finer descriptions
off-ring, and holders refuse to show their sam
ples of fair in square bales un 1-r li'l cents.—
The high rates of f ireign and coastw ise freights
causes buyers to be more indiff-rent about purchas
ing than they ot terwi-e w mid be, while on ihe
«-her hand, the light receipts at this point, ami the
r.i|>id falling off in tlce receipts al till the ports (be
ing this week 11.913 bales)gives holders morecon
fi fence in the article, and they seem di-p»-el to
hold on and await a change for lit- better, which
n majority of th«-m think vv ill soon lake place, as it
is now rendered cert tin. beyond all doubt. I bat this

GROCERIES. —The stocks of our merchants
are daily on the increase, every arrival ad.ling ,
thereto fresh gi*o<is. The business of the past week 1
has (teen light, the season of the year being at
hand when our planters are busily engaged in j
prep ring their grounds for the next crop, and vve :
do not look for much of a trade with the country,
beyond immediate necessities, before the first of ]
April, by which time the stocks of our merchants
will be full. Every description of Groceries have
an upward tendency.
MOLASSES —li w ill he seen by quotations, has
still further advanced, and Cuba is now held at
3 * a 33c. per gallon,ami New Orleans at 4 • a 43c.
SUGARS.— St. Croix and Porto Rico Sugars are
scarce in this market— the supply of New Orleans
is better, several lots having arrived this week
from below.
BACON.—Good Bacon is scarce, and prices are
improving. Sales have been reported totistliis |
week, of about 15,000 lbs at 9e the hog round
COFFEE —In consequence of the enhanced
prices asked in New York and other market*, hold
ers here are stiffening in their rates. Sales were
made in the early part of the week of several lots
Rio. about 200 hags, at 81 a 9 cents—holders now i
are unwilling to sell at price.
CORN. —Since the receipt of the Cambria’s ad
vices litis article lias declined in ibis market, and
we reduce our quotations tu6s a 70 cents per bush

THE RlVEß.—During the past week has been
running over the lowei wharves—it is sliil in fine
boating order As regards freights we have no 1
change to notice in r ites—but little Cotton offer

actions. We can hardly give quotations with any
degree of certainty.
FORT GAINES (Ga.) Feb. 27.— Cotton —The
receipts this week are light. We are informed
that the great bulk of Cotton is in. and that onr
industrious f.liners are hnsly engage 1 in p-eparing
liltir lands for another crop. We wish them good
seasons.and a better crop than the last.
Our market ranges from 8f to 91c.
APALACHICOLA, FEB 23.— Cotton.—' The
receipts during the past week amount to 1,818
hales, and the exports tn 2,819, leaving >he stock
on hand, including all on shipboard not cleared
43.026 bales, against 26,747 bales, same lime last
) ear.
The evening previous to the close of our last
weekly review, vve received bv an arrival from
New Orleans, very late accounts front that place,
adv ising of a heavy advance in freights and a cor
responding decline jn cotton. This news not com
ing to hand till late on Monday, vve were unat.le
to note its i ff cl upon our rnaiket in our review of
jhe next morning. As soon as it was made public,
masters immediately advanced theira-king pric s
to Id. for Liverpool, and the effect of this advance
upon our principal staples was immedrately seen,
prices giving way «to »c. During all of Tuesday,
buyers absented llicni-elves from the market and
the transactions were very limited, amounting to
only 40 bales. Wednesday, the demand was but
j slightly increased, the sales of the day so >lnig up
31i Gales Un Thursday there was a more geite
i ral attendance of buyers in the market, and dn
i ring the day !‘* 13 bales were d> posed of. The
"Sarah s»ands” accounts by telegraph reache I us
on Friday morning, previous to which however,
.-ales were effected to the extent of 4 or 5 (* biles,
and subsequently during the day some iOO bales
im>re were disposed of ma ing a iota! f>r the day
of 7.7 bales. The sales early in the morning vveie
made mostly by one party who it is supposed was
in po session of the accounts, from hisgieat anxie
ty to sell and willingness tn ac. ej I con i ier.ihly
lower rates, tl a i he had refused the day previous.
The s ties after the news on Friday were generally
at about ic. decline lr< in the day previous. On
Saturday ihire was a fair amount of business trans
acted, ihe operations of the day amounting to 653
biles, and the decline of ic. fully establt-hed.—
Yesterday 436 hah s were dispojed ofal Saturday’s
prices. Onr market is now about where it was
after the lilt of Dec. accounts.
The sales of the week amount to 3.3 0 bales,
buyers lor all quarters participating in the trans
actions; much the largest portion however, has
been taken un foreign account. We alter onr
quotations to conform as nearly as possible to the
present state of the market, and b ii-ve they may
be relied upon as substantially c> rrect.
