COLLETON 151TTE11S.
roll 11 vsi-Lcins.
THESE BITT ERS are purely a vegetable
compound, and are offered to the pub
lic from a principle of benevolence, under tbe full
est conviction tlml they will be found a safe and
sovereign remedy for Dyspepsia. They have been
triumphantly tested not only by some of tbe most
respectable families in I lie State, u ho have furnish
ed ample testimony as to tlieir decided e\i ellence,
hut also by the proprietor, who. for ten years, Ful
lered all the gloom incident to tbai distressing dis
« ease. They possess the peculiar excellence denied
to most other Bitters, of not prov ing injurious by
continued use. They contain not a single delete
rious ingredient, and, us seen from tlie directions
which accompany each bottle, may be given with
entire safety to an infant in the month
If the Colleton is taken regularly and persever
ingly, (.which is highly important in stubborn cases,)
they will, soon alter the use of a few bottles, be
found to act on the system like a charm—imparting
vigor to the stomach, bracing tbu nv-rves, cleans
. ing the liver, promoting digestion, increasing the
appetite, strengthening the chest ami voice, reliev
ing pains, cramps, and stitches iu the breast. They
are also most excellent tor cholera morbus, habit na I
constipation,sea-sickness,nausea, proceeding trom
whatever cause. In cases of general debility, it
has proved one of the best remedies, and is there
fore highly recommended to elderly people, literary
gentlemen,students,and others ofsedentary habits.
Taken in small doses frequently through the day,
they have checked the most violent diarrhoea, and
likewise been administered wi;h the happiest effect
ji cholera infantum.
Io all the foregoing complaints, ff i»sc Bitters will
he found effectual if persisted in,and taken accord
ing to the directions which accompany each Ixittle.
And although it has been testified by several that
they are excellent in many others, yet in none other
than those above enumerated, is tin* proprietor will
ing to vouch for their efficacy. They were prima
rily and solely intended to cure Dyspepsia.
The Colleton Bitters have been eight years be
fore the public; and in consequence of ihe increas
ing demand for this valuable medicine, the proprie
tor has entered largely into the business—bottles
are procured having "Colleton Bitters”moulded in
them—they are also numbered, sealed and stamp
ed with au appropriate motto Price 8 I per buttle.

1 twelve years’experience had manifested its great
| superiority over every other article of the kind.— i
| and he now recommends it with confidence, fully

will effectually eradicate frftm the system a class
of disease some of which have heretofore been con

He has prescribed it in almost every variety of

A number of eases of gout have been cured by j
j this preparation. In one ol these cases, tlie man ;
had been afibcled with it so severely for thirteen ’

CANCER.
1 An interesting rase cured by Jayne's A-terance.
j In the spring of 1831, a canceron* tumor appear
ed in the hi breast of .Mrs. I’hoebe, vvi:e of I‘eier
; {Stretch, of Salem, N. J. it was examined hy many
Physicians, and vv as considered by alias cancerous,
and besides bore ail the characteristic marks of j
1 one. All provable means of removing!! were usual j
without ihe slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size ami painfulness. until all hope !
oi saving her life, but hy a painful operation, was ,
| abandoned, vv Inch, after a consultation ol eminent
i Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. I
Join: Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
i proprietor, and two other medical geft'evnen. The
j whole ami entire rigin breast was retccv’H, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was ptonumced by
till present a cancer of the most malignant charac
ter. In about three months, afterenduring incredi
ble sufferings. she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again. Bhe remained feeble,
■ and her general health was exceedingly bad, as hi
ll deed it had been for several years helore. in the
i spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her In east
i had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap
| pearance on the right side, immediately over the
I part formerly occupied hy the nipple of 1 lie right
j breast, previous toils removal. This tumor steaui
i ly increased for several months, ami became so
I painful as to depriv ed her of rest. The glands tin
| der the right arm w ere enlarged; and scin bus, and
a f ard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
p» red in the left breast. No operation could now
a ist Ihe disease, indeed her vv hole body appear- I
| c frohe a mass of disease. Her t ase was consul-
I ered hopeless, hhe was of a very scrofulous habit, j
| both her parents having died of Pulmonary eon- !
sumption. The experiment was now made with
; this Alterative. It was at first given in small
! doses, three times a day. and ihe doses very g~ du- i
j ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she '
: took it, which was about six months, and ihe skin
j over and around ihe tumour was wet night and
j morning with a strong solution of lodine and liv
dried.de Potash. The tumour continued increus- |
i jug in size for about six weeks, and was at times !
; very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto- |
i getlier, and tie- tumour swelled out at the base, and
j became soft and then began to diminish, and con■ j
I tinned gradually decreasing until every vesiige of |
| disease was removed. Tlie tumour tit her left
breast, and those in her rigid axilla were also dis
persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever
appeared afterwards; and her general health, vv Inch
had b* en so bad for fourteen years as to make life a
burthen, was effec u.illy and permanently restored.
The proprietor is in possession ot tlie diseased
breast, and those who choose may examine it. He
would also say that he could mention over a-dozen
cases equally interesting, vv herein his Alterative
lias subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, bat he
has not room hereto record ihein.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J.,
had a goitrous tumour on the left side ol her vv ind- i
pipe, a large us the hall of an orange, which was
cured by using this Alterative for about lour 1
months.
Mi-s R S .South Foarth-street, Phila
d-iphia. was also cured of an enlargement of the j
throat, which filled the entire space between I lie '
chin and breast-bone, and. extended around on :
each side of her neck o* IjeJimd her ears, and from j
her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de- j
funnily. It commenced growing when she was ;
but five years d,i. and continued gradually to in j
crease until she was nineteen, at which time she 1
commenced Using this Alterative, which she took 1
for seven months, whioh entirely reduced the en
largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty
a neck as can he found. The proprietor is not at
liberty to give her name iu print, but will refer per
sons to her.
